Lambchop (band)
Lambchop, originally Posterchild, is an American band from Nashville, Tennessee. Description and history Initially formed as a three piece in 1986 with Kurt Wagner, bassist Marc Trovillion and guitarist Jim Watkins with the name Posterchild. They released some low-fi bedroom recordings on cassette such as ''I’m Fucking Your Daughter''. In 1992 they released a split 7” with Crop Circle Hoax which got the attention of entertainment lawyer George Regis, who sued on behalf of the similarly named band Poster Children. After trying a few different names they settled on Lambchop and signed to Merge Records in 1993 releasing their debut single ''Nine'' that year. Never a band with a "core" lineup, Lambchop has consisted of a large and fluid collective of musicians focused around its creative centre, frontman Kurt Wagner. Mary Mancini is an American political activist and former candidate, who served as Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party from 2015 to 2021. Lucy's Record Shop
Lucy's Record Shop was an independent, locally-owned record store and all-ages music venue in Nashville, Tennessee. During its five and a half years of operation, Lucy's supported a growing punk and indie music scene in Nashville, and received national publicity as a prominent underground music venue. History Lucy's was originally opened as a record store called Revolutions Per Minute in the summer of 1992 by Mary Mancini. The store specialized in rock and punk music on independent labels. After being in business for a few months, the name was changed to Lucy's Record Shop (named after Mancini's dog, Lucy). In the same year, Donnie and April Kendall joined Mancini as partners in the business, and Lucy's started hosting live all-ages music shows in the spacious back room. James Victor Chesnutt (November 12, 1964 – December 25, 2009) was an American singer-songwriter from Athens, Georgia. His first album, Little (album), ''Little'', was released in 1990. His commercial breakthrough came in 1996 with the release of ''Sweet Relief II: Gravity of the Situation'', a charity record of alternative artists covering his songs. Chesnutt released 17 albums during his career, including two produced by Michael Stipe, and a 1996 release on Capitol Records, ''About to Choke''. His musical style has been described by Bryan Carroll of AllMusic as a "skewed, refracted version of Americana (music), Americana that is haunting, funny, poignant, and occasionally mystical, usually all at once". Lounge music is a type of easy listening music popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It may be meant to evoke in the listeners the feeling of being in a place, usually with a tranquil theme, such as a jungle, an island paradise or outer space.
