''Ladies Invited'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band The J. Geils Band. The album was released in November 1973, by Atlantic Records. The model for the cover artwork, illustrated by the noted fashion artist Antonio, was reportedly actress Faye Dunaway, who married lead singer Peter Wolf the following year. ''Record World'' said of the single "Did You No Wrong" that "Geils takes off on some incredible guitar riffs and production from Szymczyk does no wrong." Danny Klein
Danny Klein (born May 23, 1946) is an American bassist best known as a member of The J. Geils Band. Early life Daniel Klein was born on May 23, 1946, in the Bronx, New York City. He moved to New Jersey at age 6 and in 1964 he began attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts studying mechanical engineering. It was there that he met musicians John Geils and Richard Salwitz. By 1966 Klein left WPI to pursue a career in music. Musical career While attending college Klein formed a jug band with Salwitz and Geils. When Peter Wolf, Seth Justman and Stephen Jo Bladd joined they changed their name to The J. Geils Band of which Klein remained a member until their breakup in 1985. Throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s Klein recorded with artists such as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Debbie Davies. Magic Dick
Richard Salwitz (born May 13, 1945), known as Magic Dick, is an American musician, noted for playing the harmonica for the J. Geils Band. In addition to the harmonica, Salwitz plays the trumpet (the first instrument he learned) and saxophone. Early life Salwitz was born in New London, Connecticut, New London, Connecticut. Seth Justman (born January 27, 1951) is an American keyboardist, singer and songwriter. He played keyboards in all albums and tours for of the J. Geils Band, in addition to writing or co-writing most of their songs and also singing lead after Peter Wolf's departure from the band. ''Record World'' magazine was one of three major weekly music industry trade magazines in the United States, with ''Billboard'' and '' Cashbox''. It was founded in 1946 as ''Music Vendor''. In 1964, it was changed to ''Record World'' under the ownership of Sid Parnes and Bob Austin. It ceased publication on April 10, 1982. Peter Wolf (born March 7, 1946) is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist of The J. Geils Band from 1967 to 1983 and as a solo artist. Early life and education Wolf was born Peter Walter Blankfield on March 7, 1946, in the Bronx, New York City. He attended the High School of Music & Art, located in west Harlem, Manhattan, near the Apollo Theater. He often attended the Apollo, seeing many of the famous soul, rhythm & blues, and gospel artists who influenced him. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts on scholarship, where he studied painting. His first roommate was film director David Lynch. Antonio Lopez (February 11, 1943 – March 17, 1987) was a Puerto Rican fashion illustrator whose work appeared in such publications as '' Vogue'', ''Harper's Bazaar'', ''Elle'', ''Interview'' and ''The New York Times''. The Hit Factory is a recording studio in New York City owned and operated by Troy Germano. History In 1969, songwriter Jerry Ragavoy opened a recording studio in New York City and named it ''The Hit Factory.'' On March 6, 1975, Edward Germano, a singer, record producer, and one of the principal owners of the Record Plant Studios New York, purchased The Hit Factory (located at 353 West 48th Street) from Ragavoy.
