Amazon Lex is a service for building conversational interfaces into any application using voice and text. It powers the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant (artificial intelligence), virtual assistant. In April 2017, the platform was released to the developer community, and suggested that it could be used for conversational interfaces (chatbots or otherwise) including Web, mobile apps, robots, toys, drones, and more. Amazon already had launched Alexa Voice Service, Alexa Voice Services, which developers can use to integrate Alexa into their own devices, like smart speakers, alarm clocks, etc.; however, Lex will not require that end users interact with the Alexa assistant per se, but rather any type of assistant or interface. As of February 2018, users can now define a response for Amazon Lex chatbots directly from the AWS management console. As words are formed, they are removed from the grid and the remaining letters collapse to fill the available space. The 1983 Pacific typhoon season was the latest start for a Pacific typhoon season on record, and also slightly below-average in terms of named storms. It ran year-round in 1983, but all tropical cyclones formed between June and November. These dates conventionally delimit the period of each year when most tropical cyclones form in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. A total of 32 tropical depressions formed this year, of which only 23 became tropical storms and were assigned a name by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Additionally, tropical depressions that enter or form in the Philippine area of responsibility are assigned a name by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA. A leading-edge extension (LEX) is a small extension to an aircraft wing surface, forward of the leading edge. The primary reason for adding an extension is to improve the airflow at high angles of attack and low airspeeds, to improve handling and delay the stall. A dog tooth can also improve airflow and reduce drag at higher speeds. Leading-edge slat A leading-edge slat is an aerodynamic surface running spanwise just ahead of the wing leading edge. It creates a leading edge slot between the slat and wing which directs air over the wing surface, helping to maintain smooth airflow at low speeds and high angles of attack. This delays the stall, allowing the aircraft to fly at a higher angle of attack. Slats may be made fixed, or retractable in normal flight to minimize drag. Lex Building
The Lex building is a high-rise of government offices in the European Quarter of Brussels, Belgium. It is an annex building of the European Council and Council of the European Union (their main building is the Europa building) and is located at 145, rue de la Loi/Wetstraat. History Work began in 2001, with construction starting in 2004 when the old building was demolished. It was finished in 2006. The building was built and is owned by the Lex 2000 company, with the Council having long term rent on the building and the option to buy. Due to the increase in office space, Lex 2000 has had to finance renovation of nearby apartments to compensate. The building was erected on the site of a private mansion, similar to the neighbouring Résidence Palace, which was demolished instead of renovated in order to create a much larger modern building. Lex (dog)
Lex (1999 – March 25, 2012) was a German Shepherd military working dog who served with the United States Marine Corps and became the first active-duty, fully fit military dog to be granted early retirement for adoption. Lex was wounded in Iraq in an attack that killed his handler, Corporal Dustin J. Lee. He later became a therapy dog and received an honorary Purple Heart. Military working dog Lex and Corporal Lee were stationed in the military police department at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany. Lex had previously deployed to Iraq with a different handler. Lee had adopted his earlier retired working dog, Doenja.
