Highlander (franchise)
''Highlander'' is a British film and television franchise created by American screenwriter Gregory Widen. The series began with a 1986 fantasy film starring Christopher Lambert, who played Connor MacLeod, the titular Highlander. Born in Glenfinnan in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century, MacLeod is one of a number of immortals empowered by an energy called the Quickening and only able to die if beheaded. On television, '' Highlander: The Series'' aired for six seasons from 1992–1998, starring Adrian Paul as Connor's kinsman Duncan MacLeod, another immortal Highlander born decades later. Recurring characters in the series included the immortal thief Amanda (Elizabeth Gracen) and oldest immortal Methos (Peter Wingfield) who each had spin-off shows, '' Highlander: The Raven'' and '' The Methos Chronicles'' respectively, which each lasted one season. Amanda (Highlander)
Amanda is a fictional character in the television series '' Highlander: The Series'' and '' Highlander: The Raven,'' portrayed by actress Elizabeth Gracen. She is one of the Immortals, immune to old age and death except by taking the head off. Some Immortals play The Game, seeking each other out for a duel to the death, for which the survivor is rewarded with a Quickening. Amanda was created to be a former lover of fellow Immortal Duncan MacLeod, the protagonist of the ''Highlander: The Series'' television series. She originally appeared in the 1993 episode " The Lady and the Tiger" as a "villain of the week" type character. However, the writers and fans enjoyed her cunning, lying, immoral, selfish, and manipulative ways and she remained a part of the series. Michael Ironside
Frederick Reginald Ironside (born February 12, 1950), known as Michael Ironside, is a Canadian actor, producer, director, and screenwriter. He is known for playing villains and "tough guy" heroes, and has also portrayed sympathetic characters. Early life Ironside was born in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Robert Walter Ironside and Patricia June Ironside (' Passmore). His father was a street lighting technician and laborer and his mother a housewife. He is of English, Irish and Scottish descent, and is one of five children. Ironside attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and at age 15 wrote a play, ''The Shelter'', which won the first prize in a university contest. Virginia Madsen
Virginia Gayle Madsen (born September 11, 1961) is an American actress and film producer. She made her film debut in ''Class'' (1983), which was filmed in her native Chicago. After she moved to Los Angeles, director David Lynch cast her as Princess Irulan in the science fiction film '' Dune'' (1984). The Kurgan is a fictional character from the first ''Highlander'' film. He is portrayed by Clancy Brown. He is an Immortal and the main antagonist to Connor MacLeod in ''Highlander'', and the latter's ultimate opponent in the Gathering. Immortal (Highlander)
In the ''Highlander'' franchise, human beings born with the power of " the Quickening" become immortal if they suffer a premature death by unnatural means (such as by violence). After the First Death, they are ageless and invulnerable to death unless their head is removed or destroyed. From the time they are born, immortals and "pre-immortals" cannot biologically have children. Immortals can sense each other's presence and may take Quickening power from another of their kind by beheading them. They duel each other across the centuries, a deadly "Game" with few rules. Roxanne Hart
Roxanne Hart (born July 27, 1952) is an American actress, best known for her roles as Brenda Wyatt in the 1986 film ''Highlander'', and as Nurse Camille Shutt on the CBS medical drama series ''Chicago Hope'' (1994–1998). Hart has also received Tony and Drama Desk Awards nominations for her stage work. Personal life Hart was born in Trenton, New Jersey, the daughter of Joan Irene (née McKee) and Edward J. Peter Wingfield
Dr Peter Wingfield (born 5 September 1962) is a Welsh-born television actor, well known for his television roles as Dan Clifford in ''Holby City'', Dr. Robert Helm in ''Queen of Swords'' and Inspector Simon Ross in ''Cold Squad'' but he is internationally best known for his role as the 5000-year-old Immortal Methos in the hit syndicated series '' Highlander: The Series''.
