Kristianstad Golf Club
Kristianstad Golf Club is a golf club located in Åhus 18 km southeast of Kristianstad in Skåne County, Sweden. It has hosted the European Ladies Amateur Championship and Kristianstad Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour. History The club was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1924 as only the 6th club in the country. The first 9-hole course was located at Rinkaby military training ground. It was moved to its current location in Åhus in 1940 and the first 18-hole course, Åhus East, was completed by 1969. The first 9 holes of Åhus West was built in 1980 and its extension to 18 holes was completed in 2006. The Åhus East course saw a major overhaul in 2016 by Pierre Fulke and Adam Mednickson, and Åhus West re-opened with a new layout in 2021. The East course was ranked third best in the country in 2020. Åhus
Åhus () is the second largest urban areas in Sweden, locality in Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 9,840 inhabitants in 2015, but the number triples during the summer due to tourists who come seeking the beaches and nature of the Helgeå and Hanöbukten area. Anna Berg
Anna Berg (born 25 April 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. She was 1997 LET Rookie of the Year and runner-up at the Taiwan Ladies Open in 2001. Amateur career Berg was on the National Team and won silver at the inaugural European Girls' Team Championship in 1991 together with Maria Hjorth, Mia Löjdahl and Charlotta Sörenstam. In 1994, she won the European Lady Junior's Team Championship with the same teammates plus Linda Ericsson and Helena Olsson. Swedish Golf Tour
The Swedish Golf Tour (currently known as the MoreGolf Mastercard Tour for sponsorship reasons), is a developmental professional golf formerly operated by Svenska Golftourerna AB, owned equally by the Swedish Golf Federation and the PGA of Sweden, since 2018 operated by the Swedish Golf Federation. The tour is designed to help Swedish golfers to reach the standard of play needed to qualify for the European Tour or the Challenge Tour. The events on the SGT are included in the Nordic Golf League, which is one of four European Tour-recognised third-tier tours, and is run in collaboration by the national golf associations of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The four third-level tours carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Swedish Matchplay Championship
The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. Since 1984, except 1985, the tournament has been open to both amateurs and professionals and for foreign citizens. Linn Grant
Linn Maria Grant (born 20 June 1999) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour. As an amateur, she won the 2017 Ladies' British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship and was in contention at the 2018 and 2020 U.S. Women's Open. Family and early years Grant is the grand-daughter of James Grant, a Scottish golf professional who emigrated from Inverness in Scotland to Helsingborg in Sweden. The Grant family has had a fair bit of success on Catriona Matthew's home track, North Berwick Golf Club. James won the Scottish Boys Championship on the course, and Linn won the British Amateur Stroke Play Championship there, 49 years later. James died when Linn was 6 years old. Maja Stark
Maja Sofia Stark (born 10 December 1999) is a Swedish professional golfer. She has six Ladies European Tour titles and earned LPGA Tour membership through her victory at the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational. As an amateur she was in contention at the 2020 and 2021 U.S. Women's Open, and after turning professional in August 2021 she won two tournaments in three starts on the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Stark grew up in Abbekås, Skåne County, and joined the Swedish National Team in 2016. 2021 Ladies European Tour
The 2021 Ladies European Tour was a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world. The tournaments were sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). The season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with many tournaments either being postponed or cancelled. Among the cancellations was the Australian Swing, the tour's season opening. Schedule The table below shows the 2021 schedule. The season featured a month-long European Swing of the LPGA Tour, starting with the Evian Championship in late July. Liselotte Neumann
Liselotte Maria "Lotta" Neumann (born 20 May 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. When she recorded her first LPGA Tour win, by claiming the 1988 U.S. Women's Open title, Neumann also became the first Swedish golfer, male or female, to win a major championship. Early years Neumann was born and grew up in Finspång, Sweden. Her father Rune was a former football player and coach of a local girls football team. After practicing different sports and supported by her father, her mother Ingegerd and her brother Mats, Neumann began playing golf at the local 9-hole course at Finspång Golf Club. Daniel Olsson (born 27 April 1975) is a Swedish professional golfer. He won the European Amateur in 1996. Career Representing the Swedish National Team, Olsson collected medals both in European and World championships. He won the 1993 European Boys' Team Championship in Switzerland where his team, including Johan Axgren, Kalle Brink and Johan Edfors, beat England 6–1 in the final. Olsson was part of the Swedish teams, winning bronze at the 1995 European Amateur Team Championship in Antwerp, Belgium and finished fourth in the 1997 event at Portmarnock Golf Club, Dublin.
