Krishnanagar (; also spelled Krishnagar) is a city and a municipality. in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarter of the Nadia district. History Krishnanagar municipality was established in 1864 and is one of the oldest municipalities. It is claimed to be named after Krishna Chandra Ray (1728–1782). Previously, the city (village) was called ‘Reui’ (রেউই). Krishnanagar I is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Krishnanagar Sadar subdivision of Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Geography Bhaluka, a constituent panchayat in this block, is located at . Krishnanagar I CD Block is bounded by Krishnanagar II and Chapra CD Blocks in the north, Krishnaganj and Hanskhali CD Blocks in the east, Santipur CD Block in the south and Nabadwip CD Block in the west. Krishnanagar (also known as Jhandenagar) is a municipality in Kapilvastu district of Lumbini Zone in the western terai part of Nepal.
