Johannes Carl Andersen
Johannes Carl Andersen (14 March 1873 – 19 June 1962) was a New Zealand clerk, poet, ethnologist, librarian, editor and historian. Andersen was born in Klakring (now Hedensted), Denmark, on 14 March 1873. His family emigrated to New Zealand in October 1874 and settled in Christchurch. In 1887 he began working at the Department of Lands and Survey as a cadet draughtsman and then as a clerk. In May 1900 Andersen married teacher Kate McHaffie, who later became active in various community organisations in Wellington, including the New Zealand Women Writers' and Artists' Society. Andersen supported her endeavours, including by reviewing and endorsing the literary efforts of Society members. Andersen took a special interest in traditional Māori culture and mythology. This saw him attempt to record and retell aspects of their culture. To the public, he was best known as the inaugural librarian of the Alexander Turnbull Library from 1919 to 1937. Regions Of Denmark
The five Regions of Denmark ( da, regioner) were created as administrative entities at a level above the municipalities and below the central government in the public sector as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, when the 13 counties ('' amter'') were abolished. At the same time, the number of municipalities ('' kommuner'') was cut from 270 to 98. The reform was approved and made into a law by the lawmakers in the Folketing 26 June 2005 with elections to the 98 municipalities and 5 regions being held Tuesday 15 November 2005. Each region is governed by a popularly elected regional council with 41 members, from whom the regional chairperson is chosen. The main responsibility of the regions is healthcare. Viborg HK (Viborg Håndbold Klub) is the name of a Danish handball club from Viborg. Henrik Lundgaard
Henrik Lundgaard (born 26 February 1969) is a Danish rally driver. In 2000, he won the European Rally Championship in a Toyota Corolla WRC. Margrethe Hald
Margrethe Hald (10 February1897 - 19 May 1982) was a Danish textile historian and curator at the National Museum of Denmark. A major contributor to international textile research, she received a D.Phil. in 1950 for her thesis ''Olddanske tekstiler''. Biography Born in the village of Neder Vrigsted, near Horsens in eastern Jutland, Hald was one of four children who were raised on a farming estate managed by her mother after her father died when she was three years old. Interested in art from an early age, Hald had learned how to weave in the village and at the high schools at Vrigsted and Askov. Jens Jacob Bregnø
Jens Jacob Nielsen Bregnø (9 February 1877 – 26 March 1946), often referred to as J. J. Bregnø, was a Danish sculptor and ceramics designer. He collaborated with Bing & Grøndahl, Saxbo and Dahl Jensen Porcelain and also designed silver for Kay Bojesen. He received the Eckersberg Medal in 1919. Early life and education He was born in Hedensted, near Horsens, the son of shoemaker Mads Nielsen (1843–87) and Elise Laursen (1854-31). He changed his surname to Bregnø in 1913. He initially completed an apprenticeship as a joiner and woodcarver in Aarhus and then apprenticed as a stobenason in Stockholm from 1898. Jens Jørgen Jensen-Egeberg (26 April 1848, Hedensted – 20 September 1922, Hørsholm) was a Danish painter. His works include portraits, landscapes and genre scenes. He also worked in pastels. Biography His father, Jens Pedersen (1802–1885) owned a farm and he grew up in the country. He began his education at the Uldum Folk High School, near Vejle, then went to Copenhagen in 1865 to attend the Blågård Seminarium, but decided that he wanted to be a painter instead. In pursuit of that, he took classes at the Copenhagen Technical College, received an award in 1874, and transferred to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He graduated from there in 1880.
