Klaas van Berkel (born 24 July 1953) is a Dutch historian, historian of science, and professor of Modern History at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, known from his work on the history of science in the Netherlands, particularly the work of Isaac Beeckman, Simon Stevin and Eduard Jan Dijksterhuis. Life Born in Nieuwer-Amstel, Van Berkel studied history and philosophy at the University of Groningen, and in 1983 he received his PhD at the University of Utrecht with a dissertation, entitled "Isaac Beeckman (1588-1637) en de mechanisering van het wereldbeeld" (Isaac Beeckman (1588-1637) and the mechanization of the world view). Klaas Henricus Dominicus Maria Dijkhoff (born 13 January 1981) is a Dutch legal scholar and politician who led the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy in the House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. Klaas Carel Faber (20 January 1922 – 24 May 2012) was a convicted Dutch-German war criminal. He was the son of Pieter and Carolina Josephine Henriëtte (née Bakker) Faber, and the brother of Pieter Johan Faber, who was executed for war crimes in 1948. Faber was on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of most wanted Nazi war criminals. Faber died in Germany in May 2012, having never been extradited. Second World War Faber was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands, to a family with a strong National-Socialist background. Klaas Bruinsma (6 October 1953 – 27 June 1991) was a major Dutch drug lord. He was shot dead on 27 June 1991 by organized crime member and former police officer Martin Hoogland.
