Kirk Humphreys
Kirk Humphreys (born September 13, 1950) is an American politician who served as Mayor of Oklahoma City from April 9, 1998, to November 3, 2004. He was considered a favorite candidate of the Republican party establishment for U.S. Senator in 2004, losing to former Congressman Tom Coburn, MD in the primary. Humphreys was appointed to The Oklahoma City Public Schools Board as Chairman, but was later unseated by former state Sen. Angela Monson. Humphreys is the Executive Chairman of Humphreys Capital, a real estate investment fund management company based in Oklahoma City. Education Humphreys graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1972 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Ronald J. Norick (born August 5, 1941) is an American politician. A Republican, he served as mayor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1988 to 1998. He is the son of James H. Norick, who served as Mayor of Oklahoma City from 1959 to 1963 and 1967 to 1971. Freedom Oklahoma is a statewide political advocacy organization in Oklahoma that advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights, including same-sex marriage. History Freedom Oklahoma was formed in 2015 with the merger of Cimarron Alliance Equality Center and The Equality Network. Cimarron Alliance's executive director at the time of the merger, Troy Stevenson, became the executive director of the new organization. Activities Freedom Oklahoma is organizing efforts to defeat legislations considered harmful to the state's LGBT community, and promote positive LGBT legislation. James Inhofe
James Mountain Inhofe ( ; born November 17, 1934) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Oklahoma, a seat he was first elected to in 1994. A member of the Republican Party, he chaired the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2015 to 2017. Inhofe served as the U.S. representative for from 1987 to 1994 and as mayor of Tulsa from 1978 to 1984. Inhofe is known for his rejection of climate science. Don Nickles
Donald Lee Nickles (born December 6, 1948) is an American politician and lobbyist who was a Republican United States Senator from Oklahoma from 1981 to 2005. He was considered both a fiscal and social conservative. After retiring from the Senate as the longest-serving senator from Oklahoma up until that point, he founded the Nickles Group, a lobbying firm. Metropolitan Area Projects Plan (MAPS) is a multi-year, municipal capital improvement program, consisting of a number of projects, originally conceived in the 1990s in Oklahoma City by its then mayor Ron Norick. A MAPS program features several interrelated and defined capital projects, funded by a temporary sales tax (allowing projects to be paid for in cash, without incurring debt), administered by a separate dedicated city staff funded by the sales tax, and supervised by a volunteer citizens oversight committee. In some ways, a MAPS program is similar to a local option sales tax. However, taxes collected by a MAPS program do not go to a city's general fund, but are instead deposited into a trust dedicated to the specific projects identified in the taxes' enabling ordinance.
