Kgomokasitwa
Kgomokasitwa is a small village in the Southern District of Botswana, located some few kilometers north of Lobatse. To reach the village you travel by the A2 road between Lobatse and Kanye, then branch to the right at the Molapowabojang ward called Tshweneyagae. Kgomokasitwa has a population of about 1423 (2011 Census). The village falls under the administration of the Southern District Council which is headquartered in Kanye, Botswana. For civil administration it falls under Moshupa Sub District. History Kgomokasitwa gets its name from a hill which is located 6 km from the village. Occasionally there can be seen mist at the top of the hill indicating that it may be cold up there, hence the name Kgomokasitwa or loosely translated, Freezing Cow. ( Kgomo = cow) and (sitwa = freezing). The majority of people in the village are of Bangwaketse tribe even though it is multi tribal. Lobatse is a town in south-eastern Botswana, 70 kilometres south of the capital Gaborone, situated in a valley running north towards Gaborone and close to the border with South Africa. A2 Highway (Botswana)
The A2 highway is a road in Botswana running from the Namibian border at Buitepos through Jwaneng, Kanye and Lobatse to the South African border at Pioneer Gate. The A2 is a major component of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which is a highway corridor that provides a direct route from Maputo in Mozambique via Pretoria to central Namibia, in particular to Windhoek and the port of Walvis Bay. There is an additional paved road from the A2 through Ghanzi to Maun. There are only two filling stations between Gaborone and Ghanzi, one at Kang and another at Lekafane; thus distances between stations are large. Kanye, Botswana
Kanye is a village in southern Botswana, located south-west of the capital, Gaborone. It is the administrative centre of the Southern District, and had a population of 45,196 at the 2011 census, making it the eighth-largest village in the country. Kanye is the traditional capital of the Ngwaketse tribe, who first settled in the area in the 1790s. The village is the longest continuously occupied tribal capital in the country. Geography Kanye lies on a series of hills which form a natural protective barrier against the sands of the Kalahari Desert. The hills extend into the Bushveld region of South Africa. The Botswana Democratic Party (abbr. BDP) is the governing party in Botswana. Its chairman is the Vice-President of Botswana, Slumber Tsogwane, and its symbol is a lift jack. The party has ruled Botswana continuously since gaining independence from the United Kingdom in 1966.
