Kevin Martin (American Musician)
Kevin Martin (born April 9, 1969) is an American singer who is best known as lead vocalist of the rock band Candlebox. He also provides lead vocals for the bands The Gracious Few and The Hiwatts. Career Martin was born in Elgin, Illinois. His father worked for a salt company and the family moved to San Antonio, Texas when he was 10. They subsequently moved to Mercer Island, Washington near Seattle when Martin was 15. He and drummer Scott Mercado set out to start a band in 1990. Candlebox was formed in 1991 after guitarist Peter Klett and bassist Bardi Martin joined them. They gained a ''Billboard'' 200 top 10 hit in 1993 with their self-titled debut album, released by Maverick Records. The album's success was largely due to the single " Far Behind", a song written about two of Martin's friends who suffered heroin overdoses, including Andrew Wood of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Elgin, Illinois
Elgin ( ) is a city in Cook and Kane counties in the northern part of the U.S. state of Illinois. Elgin is located northwest of Chicago, along the Fox River. As of the 2020 Census, the city had a population of 114,797, the seventh-largest city in Illinois. Malfunkshun
Malfunkshun is an alternative rock band formed in 1980 by Andrew Wood and his brother Kevin Wood. The band formed around the same time as other Washington state bands such as The U-Men (1980), Melvins (1983), Green River (1984), Soundgarden (1984) and Skin Yard (1985). History Bainbridge Island, Washington brothers Andrew and Kevin Wood, along with Dave Hunt and Dave Rees formed Malfunkshun, originally as a four-piece. David Hunt (1964-2009) and Dave Rees played with Malfunkshun for only one show, the former on drums and the latter on bass. After Rees and Hunt left, Andy took over bass and drummer Regan Hagar was recruited from Maggot Brains, establishing the band's definitive power trio lineup. A supergroup is a musical group whose members are successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups recorded albums together, after which they normally disband. Live (, often typeset as LĪVE or +LĪVE+) is an American rock band formed in York, Pennsylvania, in 1984 by Ed Kowalczyk (lead vocals, guitars), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass), Chad Gracey (drums), and Chad Taylor (guitars). ''Into the Sun'' is the fourth studio album by Seattle post-grunge band Candlebox. Released in 2008, it is their first album since 1998's '' Happy Pills'' and would mark both the band's studio return after a seven-year hiatus as well as their first album with Silent Majority Group. Recording and background In 2005, Kevin Martin wrote a song entitled "Stand." However, he felt the track didn't suit his current band, Hiwatts, and that it was "just too Candlebox." By the following year, Rhino Records, through Warner Bros., contacted Martin regarding an upcoming Candlebox best-of compilation. Martin and Klett favored the idea and decided the band should tour for its promotion, thus ending their indefinite hiatus. The End Begins
''The End Begins'' is the third studio album by American rock band Tantric. It is the first one recorded without the band's original members Todd Whitener, Matt Taul, and Jesse Vest. Vocalist Hugo Ferreira, the only remaining original member, was forced to scrap the original line-up's complete third album in favor of ''The End Begins'', an effort established by new members of the band in addition to Ferreira. This is the only studio album to feature former Fuel drummer Kevin Miller. Background Left without a band, Hugo Ferreira scrapped the entire record. Tantric is an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky. The group was founded in 1998 by Todd Whitener, Jesse Vest and Matt Taul after they left Days of the New, and joined forces with vocalist Hugo Ferreira. Ferreira is the only remaining member of the band from the original lineup. ''The Best of Candlebox'' is a greatest hits album by the Seattle rock band Candlebox, released on May 23, 2006. The album contains songs from the band's first three albums, as well as the song "Glowing Soul," from the soundtrack to ''The Waterboy''.
