Ketil Stokkan
Ketil Stokkan (born 29 April 1956) is a Norwegian pop artist who has performed as solo artist as well as the singer in the Norwegian band Zoo. Stokkan was born in Harstad. In 1983 he participated in the Norwegian qualifying heat for Eurovision with the song "Samme charmeur" which was placed second. In 1986 he won the national Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Romeo", written by himself, which came 12th on homeground in the Eurovision Song Contest final, which that year was held in Bergen, Norway. In 1990 he won the national final again with the song "Brandenburger Tor", the song ended up last tied with Finland. Stokkan now works as a school teacher in Nordkjosbotn, Balsfjord. Stokkan is also an outspoken ''Odd Fellow''. Zoo (Norwegian Band)
Zoo was a Norwegian band mainly active in the late 1970s and early 1980s, though founded in 1966. The band consisted of Ketil Stokkan (guitars, vocals), Sverri Dahl (keyboards, vocals), Erling Andersen (bass guitar, vocals), Rudi Høynes (drums, vocals) and Trond Nyrud (flutes, saxophones). Norway In The Eurovision Song Contest
Norway has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut in and has only been absent twice since then. In 1970, the country boycotted the contest over disagreements about the voting structure, and in 2002, they were relegated. The contest is broadcast in Norway by NRK, which also broadcasts Norway's national selection competition, Melodi Grand Prix. Before 1985, Norway's best result in the contest was Åse Kleveland's third-place in . Norway's three victories in the contest were achieved by Bobbysocks in , Secret Garden in and Alexander Rybak in . Kate Gulbrandsen (born 6 August 1965 in Slemmestad) is a Norwegian singer. In 1986 she represented Norway at the Yamaha Song Festival in Tokyo with the song "Carnival". She won the Norwegian national final Melodi Grand Prix 1987 in a very close regional vote, giving her the opportunity to compete for Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with the song " Mitt liv" (My Life), written by Rolf Løvland and Hanne Krogh. She went on to place ninth overall. Gulbrandsen tried to represent Norway again in 1989, singing "Nærhet" (Closeness) at the Melodi Grand Prix, although was unplaced. The song was rerecorded by Gulbrandsen in 1991, with a slightly different arrangement.
