Kenna
Kenna Zemedkun, known professionally as Kenna, is an Ethiopian-born American musician, philanthropist and technology creative. His track "Say Goodbye to Love" was nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in the 2009 Grammy Awards. Kenna is the founder and producer of the Summit on the Summit clean water initiative, and also partnered with Justin Timberlake to re-imagine the social network Myspace before its purchase by Time Inc. Personal life Kenna was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he was raised by his grandfather for the first three years of his life. His parents had escaped persecution and immigrated to England and later America; Kenna reunited with them in Cincinnati, Ohio when he was three years old. New Sacred Cow
''New Sacred Cow'' is the debut studio album by Kenna, released on June 10, 2003 by Columbia Records. The album was produced by Chad Hugo of The Neptunes and Kenna. Kenna created something of an underground buzz with the release of his first single "Hell Bent" in 2001. The album was leaked to the internet over a year before its final release, as it was delayed by record company politics. "Freetime" was chosen as the single to lead off the release of the album. A video was shot, and appeared sporadically on MTV2 along with the video for "Hell Bent". "Freetime" peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play charts. In late 2004, "Sunday After You" was remixed by Chad Hugo and released as a single. The single version differs greatly from the album version. Star Trak was an American record label, founded by The Neptunes and Rob Walker in 2001. It operated as a division of Interscope Geffen A&M, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Its name is a reference to the 1960s TV program ''Star Trek''. History Beginnings Star Trak was formed in 2001 by The Neptunes. Charles Edward Hugo (born February 24, 1974) is an American record producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. With close friend Pharrell Williams, he formed the production duo the Neptunes in the early 1990s, with whom he has produced songs for many recording artists. Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. Creative Loafing is an Atlanta-based publisher of a monthly arts and culture newspaper/magazine. The company publishes a 60,000 circulation monthly publication which is distributed to in-town locations and neighborhoods on the first Thursday of each month.
