Kendall Broadbent
Kendall Broadbent (born Horsforth, Yorkshire 26 August 1837; died Brisbane, Queensland 16 January 1911) was an English Australian naturalist and explorer. He arrived in Australia with his father in Victoria in 1852. He worked as a collector for François Louis Nompar de Caumont La Force, comte de Castelnau in Cape York and the Gulf of Carpentaria during 1873. In 1875 he was collecting for the British Museum (Natural History) around Port Moresby and from 1877–1879 he was collecting for Edward Pierson Ramsay of the Australian Museum. He then collected for the Queensland Museum between 1880 and 1893 before being appointed as an attendant at that museum in 1893, a post he remained in until the turn of the century. Broadbent collected the type specimen of the Rufous Bristlebird in 1858 and it was named ''Dasyornis broadbenti'' in his honour. Horsforth
Horsforth is a town and civil parish within the City of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, England, lying about five miles north-west of Leeds city centre. Historically a village within the West Riding of Yorkshire, it had a population of 18,895 at the 2011 Census. It became part of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in 1974. In 1999 a civil parish was created for the area, and the parish council voted to rename itself a town council. The area sits within the Horsforth ward of Leeds City Council, which also includes the southern part of Rawdon. Edward Pierson Ramsay
Edward Pierson Ramsay FRSEFLS LLD (3 December 1842 – 16 December 1916) was an Australian zoologist who specialised in ornithology. Early life Ramsay was born in Dobroyd Estate, Long Cove, Sydney, and educated at St Mark's Collegiate School, The King's School, Parramatta. He studied medicine from 1863 to 1865 at the University of Sydney but did not graduate. Career Although he never had had any formal scientific training in zoology, Ramsay had a keen interest in natural history and published many papers. In 1863 he was treasurer of the Entomological Society of New South Wales, he contributed a paper on the "Oology of Australia" to the Philosophical Society in July 1865, and when this society was merged into the Royal Society of New South Wales, he was made a life member in recognition of the work he had done for the Philosophical Society. Hinchinbrook Island
Hinchinbrook Island (or Pouandai to the Biyaygiri people) is an island in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. It lies east of Cardwell and north of Lucinda, separated from the north-eastern coast of Queensland by the narrow Hinchinbrook Channel. Batrachomoeus Trispinosus
''Batrachomoeus trispinosus'', the three-spined frogfish or Broadbent's frogfish, is a species of Indo-Pacific toadfish, from the largely Old World subfamily, Halophryninae, of the family Batrachoididae. It is the type species of the genus '' Batrachomoeus''. It is said to be the only fish known to cry like a baby and produce complex non-linear calls. Rufous Bristlebird
The rufous bristlebird (''Dasyornis broadbenti'') is one of three extant species of bristlebirds. It is endemic to Australia where three subspecies have been described from coastal southwestern Western Australia, southeastern South Australia and southwestern Victoria. Its natural habitat is coastal shrublands and heathlands. It is threatened by habitat destruction.
