Kawa, Myanmar
Kawa ( my, ကဝမြို့; mnw, ဍုင်ကဝ) is a town located in the Bago Region of Myanmar (previously known as Burma). It is part of the Bago District and is located on the eastern bank of the Bago River south of Bago, Myanmar, Bago. Kawa is the administrative seat of the Kawa Township. Etymology Kawa is a place name of Mon language, Mon origin; Kawa (ကဝ) means "Lin Myee Swe" bird (Greater racket-tailed drongo). The village was formed near the region where the bird lived, and the village soon became known as Kawa. Transportation Htone Gyi Station, which is on the Yangon-Bago, Myanmar, Bago Railway, is about from Kawa, and is reached by an asphalt road that crosses the Bago River over the Bago River Crossing Bridge (Kawa). Kawa, Sudan
Kawa is a site in Sudan, located between the Third and Fourth Cataracts of the Nile on the east bank of the river, across from Dongola. In ancient times it was the site of several temples to the Egyptian god Amun, built by the Egyptian rulers Amenhotep III and Tutankhamun, and by Taharqa and other Kushite kings. ''Kawa'' is a 2010 New Zealand film directed by Katie Wolfe originally titled ''Nights in the Gardens of Spain''. The film stars Calvin Tuteao as Kawariki. A coming out film drama, it is based on the novel ''Nights in the Gardens of Spain'' by Witi Ihimaera. Kawa is a language framework written in the programming language Java that implements the programming language Scheme, a dialect of Lisp, and can be used to implement other languages to run on the Java virtual machine (JVM). It is a part of the GNU Project. The name ''Kawa'' comes from the Polish word for coffee; a play on words, since Java is another familiar name for coffee. Wa (Va) is an Austroasiatic language spoken by the Wa people of Myanmar and China. There are three distinct varieties, sometimes considered separate languages; their names in ''Ethnologue'' are Parauk, the majority and standard form; Vo (Zhenkang Wa, 40,000 speakers) and Awa (100,000 speakers), though all may be called ''Wa'', ''Awa'', ''Va'', ''Vo''. David Bradley (1994) estimates there are total of 820,000 Wa speakers. Distribution and variants Gerard Diffloth refers to the Wa geographic region as the "Wa corridor", which lies between the Salween and Mekong Rivers.
