Katharine Chang
Katharine Chang (; born 12 February 1953) is a Taiwanese diplomat. Early life Chang obtained her bachelor's degree from the Department of Diplomacy of National Chengchi University. She then obtained her master's degree in international relations from Long Island University in the United States. Career Chang began her diplomatic career in 1976. In January 1995, she was named leader of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, and became the first woman to serve as a representative of Taiwan. In 1997, Chang was appointed Taiwan's first woman ambassador when she accepted a post to St Kitts and Nevis and Dominica. Upon succeeding Henry Chen as director-general of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Chang became the Ministry of Foreign Affairs first spokeswoman. Chang (surname)
Chang () is the pinyin romanization of the Chinese surname (''Cháng''). It was listed 80th among the Song-era '' Hundred Family Surnames''. "Chang" is also the Wade-Giles romanization of two Chinese surnames written Zhang in pinyin: one extremely common and written in Traditional Chinese and in Simplified Chinese, and another quite rare and written as in both systems. Edgar Lin
Edgar Lin Chun-yi (; born 23 July 1938) is a Taiwanese biologist, environmentalist, diplomat and politician. Early life and career Lin studied English at National Taiwan University and earned a Ph.D in ecology from the University of Indiana. He remained in the United States for a time, working as a research fellow for the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology. After his return to Taiwan, Lin taught at Tunghai University. Lin began participating in Taiwan's environmental movement in the 1980s. He became known as a "godfather" of the cause and was a noted anti-nuclear activist, later serving Greenpeace Taiwan as its president. Political career Lin ran in the 1989 legislative election for a Legislative Yuan seat in Taichung. His unsuccessful campaign was backed by the Democratic Progressive Party. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (MOFA; ) is a ministry of the Republic of China (Taiwan). National Chengchi University () is a public research university in Taipei. The university is also considered as the earliest public service training facility of the Republic of China. First established in Nanjing in 1927, the university was subsequently relocated to Taipei in 1954. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious and prominent universities in Taiwan.
