Katajanokka
Katajanokka ( sv, Skatudden) is a neighbourhood of Helsinki, Finland, with around 4000 inhabitants in 2005. The district is located adjacent to the immediate downtown area, though in the first major town plan for Helsinki from the mid-18th century, the area fell outside the fortifications planned to encircle the city. Originally, Katajanokka was a headland of the Helsinki peninsula but is now technically an island, as a small canal was dug across the base of the headland in the 19th century. There are four bridges across the canal connecting Katajanokka with mainland Helsinki. Buildings in Katajanokka include the former Katajanokka prison (now a Tribute Portfolio hotel by Marriott), the Uspenski Cathedral, the Katajanokka Casino, Wanha Satama, the Stora Enso head office designed by Alvar Aalto, the building of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Katajanokka Terminal used by Viking Line. Katajanokka Terminal
Katajanokka Terminal ( fi, Katajanokan terminaali, sv, Skatuddens terminal) is a ferry terminal located in Katajanokka, in the Southern Harbor of Helsinki, Finland. The shipping company Viking Line operates scheduled services from the terminal to Stockholm and Tallinn. The terminal building was originally a customs warehouse, the harbour building K8. It was built in 1937 designed by the city architect Gunnar Taucher. The building was changed to a passenger terminal in 1977, when the '' Finnjet'' started traffic between Helsinki and Travemünde, Germany. Katajanokka Casino is a restaurant and function venue in the Katajanokka neighbourhood of Helsinki. The building is located upon a promontory on the north side of the island next to the marina. Kruununhaka
Kruununhaka (; ) is a neighbourhood of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Kruununhaka became the area next to the harbour and the center, when Helsinki was moved from the earlier location in the mid-1660s. From the very beginning, the residents included city and state officials. Many buildings of the University of Helsinki are also situated in Kruununhaka. Kaartinkaupunki ( sv, Gardesstaden) is a neighbourhood in the southern part of Helsinki, Finland. Kaartinkaupunki consists of the area between the Esplanadi park and the Tähtitornin vuori park. Its area was first confirmed in 1812, but the neighbourhood was only named in 1959. It is neighbourhood number 3 in Helsinki, belonging to the Ullanlinna district and to the Southern main district. Kaartinkaupunki was named after the old Russian army barracks located near Kasarmitori. The oldest part of the barracks was built in 1822.
