Kasun Kalhara Jayawardhana ( Sinhala: කසුන් කල්හාර ජයවර්ධන ) (born 3 November 1981), known professionally as Kasun Kalhara, is a Sri Lankan singer, musician, vocal coach and record producer. During his musical career, Kasun has released three albums, ''Haritha Nimnaye'', ''Radical Premaya'' and ''Romantic Opera''. He is one of the biggest and best-selling music artists in Sri Lanka. Biography Kasun was born in Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka on 3 November 1981. His mother, Malani Bulathsinhala, was a veteran vocalist and his father H. M. Jayawardena was a renowned composer. He had a younger sister, Nirmani Chaya who died in 1991 at the age of three. Kalhara's music career started along with Indrachapa Liyanage and his schoolmates from Ananda College in the year 2000. Rajagiriya
Rajagiriya is part of the Sri Lanka's administrative capital of Sri Jayawardenapura. A fairly large suburb bordering Colombo, Rajagiriya lies between Borella and Ethul Kotte, straddling Parliament Road. History The area was originally known as ''Welikada'' and stretched from the Ethul Kotte bridge to the tram terminus at Borella. The Welikada Prison was originally within the village limits. The name ''Rajagiriya'' came from the former governor's residence, the grounds of which extended from Madinnagoda Road in the north to the Cotta road in the south. The house and grounds were later purchased by Ananda Coomaraswamy. According to historian Douglas Ranasinghe,Douglas Ranasinghe, ''Welikada viththi'', 1991 a Malayali servant of Coomaraswamy's saw a large mongoose in the garden and shouted 'Raja kiriya' (meaning 'large mongoose') and the name stuck. Malani Bulathsinhala
Malani Bulathsinhala (12 December 1949 - 29 March 2001: si, මාලනී බුලත්සිංහල) was a Sri Lankan singer. She began her musical career at age 10 with the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Personal life Bulathsinhala was born on 12 December 1949, in Boralesgamuwa, the oldest child of Wilson and P. K. Bulathsinhala. She had two siblings, a brother, Sireshan, and sister, Sandhya. She completed her education at the Papiliyana Beacon School for Girls. She also served as Assistant Director of Education in the western Sri Lankan province of Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. She married fellow musician Hearth Muidiyanselage Jayawardena on 30 December 1978, and was the mother of musician Kasun Kalhara. 2015 Sri Lankan Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Sri Lanka on 8 January 2015, two years ahead of schedule. The incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the United People's Freedom Alliance's candidate, seeking a third term in office. The United National Party (UNP)-led opposition coalition chose to field Maithripala Sirisena, the former Minister of Health in Rajapaksa's government and general secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) – the main constituent party of the UPFA – as its common candidate. Sirisena was declared the winner after receiving 51.28% of all votes cast compared to Rajapaksa's 47.58%. The result was generally seen as a major upset. Mario Glory Rookantha Goonatillake (born 5 September 1959: si, රූකාන්ත ගුණතිලක), is a Sri Lankan singer, musician and songwriter. One of the most influential musical artists in Sri Lanka, Rookantha started his career as a solo singer in late 1980s after few stints as a keyboard player.
