Kastelruther Spatzen
The Kastelruther Spatzen (German for Kastelruth sparrows) are a musical group from South Tyrol, northern Italy, who have won many honours and awards for their schlager in folk music style. Members The Kastelruther Spatzen were formed in 1976 by Karl Schieder, Walter Mauroner, Valentin Silbernagl, Oswald Sattler, Ferdinand Rier and Anton Rier. Anton Rier left in 1977, and Norbert Rier joined as the drummer in 1979. Ferdinand Rier left in 1980 and was replaced by Albin Gross. In 1983, with this line-up, they released their first single, ''Das Mädchen mit den erloschenen Augen'', which was awarded a golden disc. In 1986, Karl Schieder left the group to pursue another career, and was replaced by Karl Heufler. In 1991 Rüdiger Hemmelmann joined the band as a drummer. In 1993, Oswald Sattler left for a solo career, and was replaced by Andreas Fulterer, who left five years later also for a solo career. He was then replaced by Kurt Dasser. Peter Fill
Peter Fill (born 12 November 1982) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from northern Italy. Born in Brixen, South Tyrol, he formerly competed in all disciplines, and later focused on the speed events of downhill, super-G, and combined. Fill won the World Cup season title in downhill in 2016 and in 2017, and the combined title in 2018. Career Fill is an all-round skier. In the 2007 season, Fill was among the overall leaders for the overall World Cup title, the first Italian since Alberto Tomba to rank in the overall top ten. Fill learned to ski at the age of 3 with the help of his first teacher Frieda Senoner. He achieved his first successes during his middle-school years, while he was coached by Peter Thomaseth. In 1997/98 he joined the Seiser Alm training center, where he was coached by his uncle Arnold. In the same year he joined the B-Pool of the Bolzano-Bozen ski team (coached by Sepp Steinwandter). Denise Karbon (born 16 August 1980) is a retired World Cup alpine ski racer from South Tyrol, Italy. She competed in the technical events and specialized in giant slalom. Biography Born in Brixen, South Tyrol, Karbon made her World Cup debut in 1998 at age 17, while the following year she was Junior World Champion. She won a total of six World Cup giant slaloms: in December 2003 at Alta Badia and five of the first six races in the 2008 season. She obtained ten other podiums for a total of sixteen. Karbon won a silver medal at the 2003 World Championships in giant slalom, followed by a bronze in 2007 in the same discipline. In the 2008 season, Karbon won 5 of the 7 giant slalom races (and took third in another) to win the GS season title with 592 points, 113 points ahead of runner-up Elisabeth Görgl. Seis Am Schlern
Seis am Schlern (; it, Siusi allo Sciliar ) is an Alpine village in South Tyrol, in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of northern Italy. It is a ''frazione'' of the '' comune'' of Kastelruth. Geography The village lies in the Dolomites, in the shadow of the 2,563m high Schlern. The summit can be reached by following trail number one from the village. History The peak at the north west end of the mountain was first climbed in 1888 by Johann Santner. It is named the Santner Spitze in his honour. Territory The community is named after the high plateau, elevation , the Ritten or the Renon, on which most of the villages are located. Urtijëi
Urtijëi (; german: St. Ulrich in Gröden ; it, Ortisei ) is a town of 4,637 inhabitants in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It occupies the Val Gardena within the Dolomites, a mountain chain that is part of the Alps.
