Kashin-Mod Class Destroyer
The Modified Kashin class were six ships built and modified based on the Kashin-class destroyer for the Soviet Navy between 1973 and 1980. Seven more ships were built after that for the Indian Navy. The Soviet designation for the Mod Kashin is ''Project 61MP''. Added Equipment The main addition to the selected ships were four SS-N-2C anti-ship missile launchers. A pair of AK-630 30mm gatling guns were installed on the sides of the ship, along with a Bass Tilt fire control radar warranting the removal of two RBU-1000 rocket launchers. The landing pad mounted on the stern of the normal Kashin classes were replaced with a helicopter platform. The last change made to the Kashins was an increased forward superstructure on two decks. Severnaya Verf
Severnaya Verf (russian: Северная верфь, , Northern Shipyard) is a major shipyard on in Saint Petersburg, Russia, producing naval and civilian ships. It was founded as a branch of the Putilov Plant in the late 1800s. Under the Soviets, the shipyard was generally known as Shipyard No. 190 (in the name of Zhdanov) and reverted to its former name in 1989. The priority market for ''Severnaya Verf'' is military export to Asian countries as India, China and Vietnam. History The shipyard was established by 1912 with the name of Putilov Shipyard (Russian: ''Putilovskaya Verf''). INS Ranvir (D54)
INS ''Ranvir'' is the fourth of the five s built for the Indian Navy. ''Ranvir'' was commissioned on 28 October 1986. Service history 2008 INS ''Ranvir'' along with were anchored just outside Sri Lankan territorial waters to provide security for the Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, and other high-ranking officials at the 15th SAARC summit. 2015 On 22–26 May 2015, INS ''Ranvir'' with visited Singapore. On 31 May - 4 June 2015, INS ''Ranvir'' with INS ''Shakti'' made a port call at Jakarta, Indonesia. She was commanded by Captain Jaswinder Singh. 2022 On 18 January 2022, there was an explosion in an internal compartment of the ship at the naval dockyard in Mumbai, resulting in three deaths and eleven injuries. INS Ranjit (D53)
INS ''Ranjit'' is the third of the five built for the Indian Navy. ''Ranjit'' was commissioned on 15 September 1983 and remained in service till 6 May 2019, when it was decommissioned. Construction and service ''Ranjit'' was laid down by Indian request under the Soviet name ''Lovkiy'' at the 61 Kommunara Shipbuilding Plant in Nikolayev, Ukraine on 29 June 1977 with the serial number 2203. She had previously been planned to be named ''Porazhayushchy'' on 16 May of that year, and was built as a Project 61MZ large anti-submarine ship ( NATO reporting name Kashin-class destroyer). The destroyer was launched on 16 June 1979 and added to the list of ships of the Soviet Navy on 30 October 1981. INS ''Rajput'' was a guided-missile destroyer and the lead ship of the of the Indian Navy. It was commissioned on 4 May 1980. It was the first destroyer of the Indian Navy.
