Karl Altmann (January 8, 1904 - December 29, 1960) was an Austrian official and politician of the Communist Party of Austria. He was senate councilor of the Municipality of Vienna. The Communist Party of Austria (german: Kommunistische Partei Österreichs, KPÖ) is a communist party in Austria. Established in 1918 as the Communist Party of Republic of German-Austria, German-Austria (KPDÖ), it is one of the world's oldest Communist party, communist parties. The KPÖ was banned between 1933 and 1945 under both the Austrofascism, Austrofascist regime and the Nazi Germany, Nazi German administration of Austria after the 1938 ''Anschluss''. Undersecretary (or under secretary) is a title for a person who works for and has a lower rank than a secretary (person in charge). Karl Renner
Karl Renner (14 December 1870 – 31 December 1950) was an Austrian politician and jurist of the Social Democratic Workers' Party of Austria. He is often referred to as the "Father of the Republic" because he led the first government of German-Austria and the First Austrian Republic in 1919 and 1920, and was once again decisive in establishing the present Second Republic after the fall of Nazi Germany in 1945, becoming its first President after World War II (and fourth overall). Early life Renner was born the 18th child of an ethnic German family of poor wine-growers in Unter-Tannowitz (present-day Dolní Dunajovice in the Czech Republic), then part of the Margraviate of Moravia, a crown land of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Helene Postranecky
Helene "Hella" Postranecky (12 March 1903 - 5 January 1995) was an Austrian politician. (SDAP, KPÖ). She served as an undersecretary of state under Karl Renner between April and December 1945. That made her the first woman to serve as a member of a government in Austria. From that point until March 1966 she was also notable as the only woman to have been a member of an Austrian government. Life Postranecky was born into a working-class family in Vienna where she attended junior and middle school before entering domestic service as a housemaid. In 1919, aged 16, she moved on to become a support worker (''"Hilfsarbeiterin"'').
