During the summer, the Blues also feature one of the most successful 7s programs in the country. The Blues have been a prominent team both regionally and nationally since their inception in 1966 and have a long history of success with many tournament and league championships and several National Championship and National Final Four appearances. The Kansas City Blues were a United States minor-league hockey team based in Kansas City, Missouri that played in the Central Hockey League (CHL) from 1967 to 1972, and again in the 1976–77 season, mainly as an affiliate of the in-state St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). The 1967 Blues were owned by Missouri Lieutenant Governor (1968-1972) William S. Morris, and represented the return of hockey to Kansas City for the first time in over 30 years. Morris was determined to bring an NHL team to Kansas City and tried to lay the groundwork by convincing his friend Sid Soloman, owner of the St. Louis Blues, to create a farm team in Kansas City. The Kansas City Cowboys were a National Football League team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The team was founded as the Kansas City Blues in 1924, and as the Kansas City Cowboys in 1925 and 1926. The Blues competed as a traveling team, playing all of their NFL games in other cities' stadiums in their only year under that name. LeRoy Andrews acted as the team's player-coach. History The team was owned by Maurice R. Smith, Joe Brecklein and Cameron K. Reid. The Cowboys were known for dressing in cowboy attire and fans came out in great numbers to see them play. Immediately after the game, the Giants hired away head coach LeRoy Andrews and most of the Cowboys players. Maurice R. Smith then arranged to give what remained of the team to Cleveland under the condition that it would be given back if he wanted the team returned. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture.
