	Kane Spring, California Kane Spring (formerly, Cane Spring, Kane Springs, and San Anselmo) is a spring in Imperial County, California. It is located 1.9 km (1.2 mi) south-southwest of San Felipe Wash and 8 km (5 mi) west of the southwestern extension of the Salton Sea, at an elevation of 141 feet (43 m) below sea level. It lies on the San Andreas Fault within the Salton Trough that stretches to the Gulf of California in Mexico. Over millions of years, the Colorado River has flowed into the Imperial Valley and deposited alluvium (soil), creating fertile farmland, building up the terrain, and constantly moving its main course and river delta. Early life Juan Bautista de Anza Bezerra Nieto was born in Fronteras, New Navarre, New Spain (today Sonora, Mexico) in 1736 (near Arizpe), most probably at Cuquiarachi, Sonora, but possibly at the Presidio of Fronteras. His family was a part of the military leadership in Nueva España, as his father and maternal grandfather, Captain Antonio Bezerra Nieto, had both served Spain, their families living on the frontier of Nueva Navarre.
