The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Holualoa ( haw, Hōlualoa) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 8,538 at the 2010 census, up from 6,107 at the 2000 census. Holualoa's boundaries were altered significantly for the 2020 census. The western portion of the CDP near the coast became part of the neighboring Kailua-Kona CDP, while the eastern portion of Kailua-Kona became part of Holualua. This reduced Holualoa's population to 2,994. Geography Holualoa is located on the west side of the island of Hawaii at .
