KLFY-TV
KLFY-TV (channel 10) is a television station in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with CBS and owned by Nexstar Media Group. The station's studios are located on Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette, and its transmitter is located in Maxie, north of Rayne. KLFY-TV is notable as the oldest television station in the Lafayette area. The station is also carried on cable and satellite providers in the Lake Charles metro area and Southwest Louisiana, where it previously served as the market's default CBS affiliate until February 15, 2017, when KSWL-LD signed on as the first CBS affiliate in the area since the sign-off of KTAG-TV in 1961, as well as over-the-air in most of the Baton Rouge and Alexandria viewing areas. KALB-TV (channel 5) is a television station in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with NBC, CBS and The CW Plus. Owned by Gray Television, the station maintains studios on Washington Street in downtown Alexandria, and its transmitter is located in Forest Hill. KSWL-LD (channel 17) is a low-power television station in Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with CBS. It is owned by SagamoreHill Broadcasting alongside MyNetworkTV/MeTV/Telemundo affiliate KWWE-LD (channel 19). Both stations share studios on West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles, while KSWL-LD's transmitter is located at the KTSR tower in Westlake. History In 2011, the FCC awarded the construction permit for the station, with the call sign of K17KH-D. The current KSWL-LD calls were adopted on February 10, 2017. Scripps Company, the station has studios on Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette, and its transmitter is located near Branch, Louisiana. History The station began operations on September 19, 1962, and was locally owned by Acadian Television Company. Conventional wisdom suggested it should have signed on as an NBC affiliate, but instead it took the ABC affiliation full-time. The NTA Film Network was an early American television network founded by Ely Landau in 1956. The network was not a full-time television network like CBS, NBC, or ABC. Rather, it operated on a part-time basis, broadcasting films and several first-run television programs from major Hollywood studios. Despite attracting over 100 affiliate stations and the financial support of Twentieth Century-Fox (which purchased a 50% share of NTA in November 1956), the network proved unprofitable and was discontinued by 1961. KNOE-TV (channel 8) is a television station licensed to Monroe, Louisiana, United States, serving the Monroe, Louisiana– El Dorado, Arkansas market as an affiliate of CBS and ABC. It is owned by Gray Television alongside low-power dual CW+/MyNetworkTV affiliate KCWL-LD (channel 40, also licensed to Monroe). KTAG-TV
KTAG-TV, UHF analog channel 25, was a television station licensed to Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States. The station was owned by Charles W. Lamar of Baton Rouge and was Lake Charles' first television station. History Originally, the station was affiliated with CBS, ABC, and Dumont, but by 1957, it was solely a CBS affiliate, as Dumont folded and when KPLC-TV signed on in 1954, it took the ABC affiliation on a secondary basis. With the sign-on of KPLC, KTAG was at a major disadvantage being a UHF station in a small market competing with a VHF. In 1955, the Charles W. Lamar estate petitioned the FCC for VHF channel 3 to move the station to that spot, but it was not granted, as Acadian Television Corporation of Lafayette also lobbied (and was eventually granted) for the channel. It is owned by Gray Television alongside Belton-licensed CW affiliate KNCT (channel 46).
