KKCO
KKCO (channel 11) is a television station in Grand Junction, Colorado, United States, affiliated with NBC and Telemundo. It is owned by Gray Television alongside low-power dual ABC/ CW+ affiliate KJCT-LP (channel 8). Both stations share studios on Blichmann Avenue in Grand Junction, while KKCO's transmitter is located at the Black Ridge Electronics Site at the Colorado National Monument west of the city. History KKCO signed on the air on May 5, 1996. Prior to then, some NBC programs had been available by way of off-hours clearance on KREX-TV (channel 5). The network's full schedule was available only on cable from the network's Denver affiliates (KCNC-TV from the early 1980s until September 1995, then KUSA for most of the 1995–96 season). KJCT-LP, virtual channel 8 (UHF digital channel 20), is a low-powered dual ABC/ CW+- affiliated television station licensed to Grand Junction, Colorado, United States and serving Colorado's Western Slope region. Owned by Gray Television, it is a sister station to NBC affiliate KKCO (channel 11). KREX-TV, virtual channel 5 (VHF digital channel 2), is a CBS- affiliated television station licensed to Grand Junction, Colorado, United States and serving Colorado's Western Slope region. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, it is a sister station to low-powered, Class A MyNetworkTV affiliate KGJT-CD, channel 27 (which KREX-TV simulcasts on its third digital subchannel); Nexstar also operates Fox affiliate KFQX (channel 4) under a shared services agreement (SSA) with owner Mission Broadcasting. The station is owned by Fresno, California–based Ventura Broadcasting. KLML's transmitter is located at the Mesa Point Electronics Site on the Grand Mesa (southeast of I-70). History KLML signed on the air on October 22, 1979 as KJCT, the first television station in Western Colorado since KREX-TV in 1954. Grand Junction is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Mesa County, Colorado, United States. Colorado National Monument
Colorado National Monument is a National Park Service unit near the city of Grand Junction, Colorado. Sheer-walled canyons cut deep into sandstone and granite–gneiss–schist rock formations. This is an area of desert land high on the Colorado Plateau, with pinyon and juniper forests on the plateau. The park hosts a wide range of wildlife, including red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, ravens, jays, desert bighorn sheep, and coyotes. Activities include hiking, horseback riding, road bicycling, and scenic drives; a visitor center on the west side contains a natural history museum and gift shop. 1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video.
