The Karachi Institute of Power Engineering, commonly known as KINPOE, is a post-graduate applied science school of the Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Established by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in 1993 with cooperation with the NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, the school grants the post-graduate degrees and training certifications in power engineering related disciplines. The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), () is a public research university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) (Urdu: ) is a federally funded independent governmental agency, concerned with research and development of nuclear power, promotion of nuclear science, energy conservation and the peaceful usage of nuclear technology. Since its establishment in 1956, the PAEC has overseen the extensive development of nuclear infrastructure to support the economical uplift of Pakistan by founding institutions that focus on development on food irradiation and on nuclear medicine radiation therapy for cancer treatment. The Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (or KANUPP) is a large commercial nuclear power plant located at the Paradise Point in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Officially known as Karachi Nuclear Power Complex, the power generation site is composed of three commercial nuclear power plants. The K-1 commenced its criticality operations in 1971 whereas K-2 was commenced its operations in 2021 with a gross energy capacity of 1100 MWt. The K-3, with similar design to K-2, is due for official commissioning and commenced its criticality operations on 21 February 2022.
