Kurt Bogaerts
Kurt Bogaerts (born 8 July 1977) is a Belgium, Belgian cycling coach, team director and retired professional road racing cyclist. He currently works for Switzerland, Swiss UCI ProSeries team Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, Q36.5 Pro Cycling as Head of Technical Performance. After competing in road racing from 1999 to 2005 as an independent rider, in 2006 he joined the squad. He retired from racing after the season and began his managerial and coaching career with the team in 2007. In 2021 he joined UCI World Tour team Ineos Grenadiers as an assistant directeur sportif before following his protegé Tom Pidcock to Q36.5 for the 2025 season. Cycling career As an independent rider, Bogaerts competed primarily in one-day races in his native Belgium. His highest placings were 22nd in the 2002 Memorial Philippe Van Coningsloo, and 23rd in the 2000 GP Stad Vilvoorde. Directeur Sportif
A ''directeur sportif'' (, ) is a person directing a cycling team during a road bicycle racing event. It is seen as the equivalent to a field manager in baseball, or a head coach in football. At professional level, a directeur sportif follows the team in a car and communicates with riders, personnel and race officials by radio. The directeur sportif warns of obstacles or challenging terrain, updates the team on the situation in the race, and provides mechanical help. The car carrying the directeur sportif also usually carries a bicycle mechanic with spare bikes, wheels and parts. It also carries spare water bottles, food and medical equipment. Since the late 1990s, the role has increased, in keeping with better team cohesion, tactics and communication and telemetry equipment. An Post–Chain Reaction () was an Republic of Ireland, Irish-Belgium, Belgian professional cycling team that competed at UCI Continental Circuits, UCI Continental level. The squad was managed by Sean Kelly (cyclist), Sean Kelly and Kurt Bogaerts. It contested one-day and stage races at events across Europe, with riders taking overall victories on the UCI Europe Tour at races including Vuelta a Extremadura in Spain, Rás Tailteann in Ireland and Ronde de l'Oise in France. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (born 10 February 1992) is a French multi-discipline bicycle racer, who rides for UCI Women's World Tour team Visma–Lease a Bike Ferrand-Prévot has also competed in Mountain Biking and cyclo-cross during her career, winning the world title in each discipline. Merchtem
Merchtem () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the villages of Brussegem and Hamme, the hamlets of Ossel and Peizegem, and Merchtem proper. On July 9, 2009, Merchtem had a total population of 15,298. The total area is 36.72 km2 which gives a population density of 416 inhabitants per km2. The Tour of Britain is a multi-stage cycling race, conducted on British roads, in which participants race across Great Britain to complete the race in the fastest time.
