Kristaps Lībietis (born in Alūksne on ) is a retired Latvian biathlete. He competed in the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics for Latvia. His best performance is 19th, in 2010 as part of the Latvian relay team. His best individual performance is 54th, in the 2006 sprint and pursuit. In 2006, he also finished 68th in the individual, and in 2010 he finished 64th in the sprint and 70th in the individual. As of February 2013, his best performance at the Biathlon World Championships, is 17th, in the 2009 men's relay. His best individual performance is 50th, in the 2008 individual. ''Lielais Kristaps'' is the highest award given in Latvian cinema. Established in 1977, it is given out at the ''Latvian National Film Festival''. Due to different reasons, the festival has not been held in 1992, 1994 to 1995, 1997 and 1999, and was held biannually from 2001 to 2009, with no festival being held in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Kristaps Zvejnieks
Kristaps Zvejnieks (born 15 February 1992 in Riga) is an Alpine ski racer and inline Alpine slalom racer from Latvia. He competed for Latvia at the 2010 Winter Olympics. He competed in slalom and giant slalom and his best result was a 37th place in the slalom. He competes in FIS, CIT, EC and WC levels. He had his first World Cup start in Schladming on 24 January 2012. Alpine skiing career He was born to Jana Zvejniece and Raivo Zvejnieks in Riga, Latvia, and grew up there. The closest ski area was in Sigulda, 60 km from his house. The biggest skiing slopes in Sigulda are Pilsētas trase, Kaķīškalns and Kordes trase, all more than 100 m above the sea level with a vertical drop of 80 – 90 m and length of 275 – 350 m. Kristaps Zommers (born 7 January 1997) is a Latvian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Riga FC. Club career As a youth player, Zommers joined the youth academy of Aarhus Gymnastikforening in Denmark. He started his career with Parma. In the 2015-16 Serie D, Kristaps made 25 appearances and kept 17 clean sheets. Local journalists were deterred by the fact that he cannot speak Italian fluently so his interviews were conducted in English. Kristaps Roberts Zīle (born 24 December 1997) is a Latvian professional ice hockey defenceman for Bílí Tygři Liberec of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). Kristaps Veksa (born 30 January 1994) is a Latvian male BMX rider, representing his nation at international competitions. He started to race BMX at 1999. Kristaps Valters (born September 18, 1981) is a Latvian former professional basketball player. After retiring he became a coach, and is currently working as a head coach for Valmiera/ORDO. Playing career Valters first played professionally in 1998, for ASK/Brocēni/LMT. In 2000, Valters signed his first foreign contract, with Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi, but played there only one season. He then returned to the Latvian Basketball League, signing a two-year contract with the newly created team Skonto. Kristaps Sotnieks (born January 29, 1987) is a Latvian professional ice-hockey defenseman. He currently plays for Dinamo Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Playing career In his first season in senior hockey in 2004/05 Sotnieks mostly played for the reserves squad of HK Riga 2000 which played in the Latvian hockey league, however he also played 5 matches in the main team of Riga 2000 in Belarusian Extraliga. Due to the 2004–05 NHL lockout the squad of Riga 2000 was quite impressive that year, including NHLers Kārlis Skrastiņš, Sergejs Žoltoks and Darby Hendrickson, thus it was especially tough for youngsters like Sotnieks to get through on the main team.
