Kresy Myth
The Kresy myth () ('myth' in Polish sometimes not referring to a necessarily false belief as in English) also known as the Kresy Cult () and the Kresy Legend () is the name to a certain sense of views or attitudes in connection to nostalgic attachment of the former eastern borderlands of Poland (Kresy), sometimes in an ethnic nationalist sense, sometimes as a multicultural land dominated by Polish culture. According to Andrii Portnov, the Kresy is seen even as the lost paradise' of Poland’s 'civilisational mission at the same time as the location of "bloody and romantic clashes with the Cossacks and Tatars". The Kresy was part of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Second Polish Republic but since the latter's fall is no longer Poland but instead present-day Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania. Frontier Myth
The frontier myth or myth of the West is one of the influential myths in Culture of the United States, American culture. The frontier is the concept of a place that exists at the edge of a civilization, particularly during a period of expansion. The American frontier occurred throughout the 17th to 20th centuries as European Americans colonized and expanded across North America. This period of time became Romanticism, romanticized and idealized in literature and art to form a myth. Richard Slotkin, a prominent scholar on the subject, defines the myth of the frontier as "America as a wide-open land of unlimited opportunity for the strong, ambitious, self-reliant individual to thrust his way to the top."
