Kralingen
Kralingen () is a former village in the Dutch province of South Holland, now a neighbourhood of Rotterdam. It is located about 3 kilometres east of the city centre, in the borough Kralingen-Crooswijk. Kralingen was a separate municipality until 1895, when it merged with Rotterdam. Previously, the high society of the growing city had their pleasure gardens and villas erected there in the 19th century, on the eastern outskirts of the village. The easternmost part of Kralingen, ''Woudestein'', is where the main campus of Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Excelsior Rotterdam stadium are situated. Kralingen is home to a Louis XIV-XV style mansion which is on the national monument register. Kralingen Music Festival
The Holland Pop Festival, also known as the Kralingen Music Festival, was a pop and rock music festival held in the ''Kralingse Bos'', in the Kralingen neighbourhood of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, from 26 to 28 June 1970. History Performing bands included The Byrds, T. Rex (band), T. Rex, Santana (band), Santana, Jefferson Airplane, and the headlining Pink Floyd. Approximately 100,000 attended. Festival posters show that the festival was billed in Dutch as ''Pop Paradijs'' and 'Holland Pop Festival 70', and that the main investor was Coca-Cola. In both English and Dutch, the festival is also known by the English name ''Stamping Ground'', and is often billed as the European answer to Woodstock. Kralingen-Crooswijk () is a township of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. It is located at the immediate east of the city's centre. As of 2005 it has about 52,379 inhabitants and has a territory of about 1,286 ha. It consists of the two boroughs Kralingen and Crooswijk, the former being a village itself until it was incorporated in the city of Rotterdam in the late 19th century. The Byrds () were an American Rock music, rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1964.
