Erik Jørgensen (17 May 1848 – 15 September 1896) was a Norwegian master gunsmith, well known for his cooperation with Ole Herman Johannes Krag in developing the first successful Krag–Jørgensen rifle. Ole Herman Krag
Ole Herman Johannes Krag (7 April 1837 – 9 December 1916) was a Norwegian officer and firearms designer. Biography Ole H. J. Krag was born in Vågå, in Oppland county, Norway. Krag grew up in various locations where his father, Hans Peter Schnitler Krag (1794–1855), served as pastor, including Vågå, Fredrikshald (Halden) and Christiania (Oslo). Krag was a student at Hartvig Nissens skole in Oslo. He started his military career in January 1854. He became a second lieutenant in 1857 and a full lieutenant in 1861. In 1866 he was ordered to Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk, the most important Norwegian weapons factory of its day. Kongsberg Silver works () was a mining operation at Kongsberg in Buskerud county in Norway. The town of Kongsberg is the site of the Norwegian Mining Museum (). History Operating from over 80 different sites, Kongsberg silver mines constituted the largest mining field in Norway. It was the largest pre-industrial working place in Norway, with over 4,000 workers at its peak in the 1770s and supplied over 10% of the gross national product of the Danish–Norwegian union during its 335-year-long history: over 450,000 man-years were expended in the production. Poul Steenstrup
Poul Steenstrup (10 December 1772 – 9 October 1864) was a Norwegian industrialist and politician. He was the founder of the Kongsberg Arms Factory (''Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk'') and served as a representative at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in 1814. Biography Poul Steenstrup was born the son of a Danish landowner at Egtved, in Vejle, Denmark. He studied surgery and science at the University of Copenhagen but did not take the final examination. In 1797, he came to Buskerud in Norway where he attended the Royal Norwegian Mining Academy (''kongelige norske Mining Academy'') in Kongsberg. From 1801 he undertook a three-year scholarship trip to German and Austrian ironworks and factories, principally in Freiberg and Vienna. Upon returning to Norway, he served as mining inspector at the Kongsberg Silver Mines.
