Kunihiko Kodaira
was a Japanese mathematician known for distinguished work in algebraic geometry and the theory of complex manifolds, and as the founder of the Japanese school of algebraic geometers. He was awarded a Fields Medal in 1954, being the first Japanese national to receive this honour. Early years Kodaira was born in Tokyo. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1938 with a degree in mathematics and also graduated from the physics department at the University of Tokyo in 1941. During the war years he worked in isolation, but was able to master Hodge theory as it then stood. He obtained his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 1949, with a thesis entitled ''Harmonic fields in Riemannian manifolds''. He was involved in cryptographic work from about 1944, while holding an academic post in Tokyo. Nao Kodaira
Nao Kodaira ( ja, 小平 奈緒; born 26 May 1986) is a Japanese former long track speed skater who specialised in the sprint distances. She is the 2018 Olympic champion in the 500 m distance. Kodaira is the first Japanese woman to win an Olympic gold medal in speed skating. In 2009, she graduated from Shinshu University with a bachelor's degree in education. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics she won a silver medal in the team pursuit event. She placed 5th in the 1000 and the 1500 m events and 12th in the 500 m one at the Olympics. At the 2014–15 World Cup stop in Seoul, South Korea, on 21 November 2014, she won the 500 m event, and she has a total of 25 podium placings in the World Cup. is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party of Japan, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). Yoshinao Kodaira
was an officer and ace fighter pilot in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Participating in many of the Pacific War battles and campaigns as a member of several units, including the fighter units of the aircraft carriers ''Shōkaku'' and ''Chiyoda'', Kodaira was officially credited with destroying 13 enemy aircraft. Yoshio Kodaira
was a Japanese serial killer, serial rapist, and war criminal who murdered at least 8 people in the Tokyo and Tochigi Prefecture areas between 1932 and 1946. Kodaira killed his father-in-law in 1932 and later raped and murdered at least 7 women between 1945 and 1946 by inviting them into forested areas around Tochigi and Tokyo under the guise of giving them food or employment. Kodaira was sentenced to death after being convicted of killing the seven women and executed in 1949. Kodaira is suspected to have killed other people in Japan, and confessed to committing additional crimes in China. However, the exact number of his victims is unknown. Early life Yoshio Kodaira was born on 28 January 1905 in Tochigi, Tochigi Prefecture, and suffered from stuttering during his childhood.
