Koalemos
In Greek mythology, Koalemos (Ancient Greek: Κοάλεμος) was the personification of stupidity, mentioned once by Aristophanes, and being found also in ''Parallel Lives'' by Plutarch. Coalemus is the Latin spelling of the name. Otherwise, the word κοάλεμος was used in the sense of "stupid person" or also "blockhead". An ancient false etymology derives from (''koeō'') "perceive" and (''ēleos'') "distraught, crazed". This etymology is not established, however.Chantraine, Pierre. In ancient Greece, deities were regarded as immortal, anthropomorphic, and powerful. They were conceived of as individual persons, rather than abstract concepts or notions, and were described as being similar to humans in appearance, albeit larger and more beautiful. The emotions and actions of deities were largely the same as those of humans; they frequently engaged in sexual activity, and were jealous and amoral. Deities were considered far more knowledgeable than humans, and it was believed that they conversed in a language of their own. Proioxis
In Greek mythology, Proioxis (Ancient Greek: Προΐωξις) was the personification of onrush or pursuit in battle (as opposed to Palioxis). She and her sister Palioxis (Backrush) presided over the surge of battle. They were probably numbered amongst the Machai, Makhai, daimones of the battlefield. Proioxis was probably the same as Ioke (mythology), Ioke. Polemos
In Greek mythology, Polemos or Polemus ( ''Pólemos''; "war") was a daemon; a divine personification or embodiment of war. No cult practices or myths are known for him, and as an abstract representation he figures mainly in allegory and philosophical discourse. The Roman counterpart of this figure was Bellum. Literature Pindar says that Polemos is the father of Alala, goddess of the war-cry. According to Quintus Smyrnaeus, Polemos was the brother of the war goddess Enyo. Other Greek personifications of war and the battlefield include Ares, Eris, the Makhai, the Hysminai, the Androktasiai, the Phonoi and the Keres. Ioke (mythology)
In Greek mythology, Ioke (; Ancient Greek: ) is the female personification of onslaught, battle-tumult, routing, and pursuit. In the ''Iliad'', she is one of the daimones, or spirits, of Zeus's aegis and occasionally listed among the Machai. The other daimones are Phobos, Eris, and Alke. Ioke was probably the same as Proioxis. The ancient Greek word is a rare doublet for "rout, onslaught, pursuit" from the common verb "drive, pursue, chase away". In Greek mythology, Ate () is the personification of moral blindness and error. She could blind the mind of both gods and men leading them astray. Ate was banished from Olympus by Zeus for blinding him to Hera's trickery denying Heracles his birthright. Homer calls Ate the daughter of Zeus, while Hesiod has Ate as the daughter of Eris (Strife). Alala
Alala (Ancient Greek: (alalá); "battle-cry" or "war-cry") was the personification of the war cry in Greek mythology. Her name derives from the onomatopoeic Greek word (alalḗ), hence the verb (alalázō), "to raise the war-cry". Greek soldiers attacked the enemy with this cry in order to cause panic in their lines and it was asserted that Athenians adopted it to emulate the cry of the owl, the bird of their patron goddess Athena. According to Pindar, Alala was the daughter of Polemos, the personification of war, and was characterised by the poet as "prelude to spears, to whom men offer a holy sacrifice of death on behalf of their city".
