Klinga Church
Klinga Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Namsos Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Klinga. It is the church for the Klinga parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1866 using plans drawn up by the architects Ernst Kulaas and Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 270 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1563, but the church was likely built during the 14th century. The first church building was a stave church that was located at Sævik, about to the north of the present church site. Records from 1639 state that the church was very small and fragile, in need of supports for the exterior walls so they would not collapse in a storm. Choir (architecture)
A choir, also sometimes called quire, is the area of a church or cathedral that provides seating for the clergy and church choir. It is in the western part of the chancel, between the nave and the sanctuary, which houses the altar and Church tabernacle. In larger medieval churches it contained choir-stalls, seating aligned with the side of the church, so at right-angles to the seating for the congregation in the nave.
