Klaus Tochtermann
Klaus Tochtermann (born 22 August 1964, Heidelberg) is a professor in the Institute for Computer Science at Kiel University and also the director of the ZBW – German National Library of Economics – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics. Education and career Klaus Tochtermann is the son of Werner Tochtermann. He graduated from the Kieler Gelehrtenschule in 1983. From 1985 to 1991 he studied computer science at the Kiel University and Dortmund University. At Dortmund University he received his doctorate in computer science with a thesis on ''A model for hypermedia: description and integrated formalisation of essential hypermedia concepts''. Klaus Tochtermann spent the following year as a post-doc at Texas A&M University, Center for the Studies of Digital Libraries, USA with a grant from the Max-Kade-Foundation. The National Library of Economics (ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics) is the world's largest research infrastructure for economic literature, online as well as offline. The ZBW is a member of the Leibniz Association and has been a foundation under public law since 2007. The ''Kieler Nachrichten'' (literally "Kiel News") or ''KN'' is the only German-language newspaper published in Kiel, Germany. It is published by "Kieler Zeitung Verlags und Druckerei KG-GmbH & Co.", a subdivision of Axel Springer AG which owns 24.5 percent of the company. Werner Tochtermann
Werner Tochtermann (30 May 1934 – 7 August 2021) was a German chemist and emeritus professor. From 1976 till his retirement in 1999 he was full professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Kiel. His main areas of research were the chemistry of medium and large rings, the synthesis of cyclophanes, and the heteroquadricyclane→heteropin rearrangement, e.g. for the synthesis of oxepins from furans (known as Prinzbach–Tochtermann sequence). Career Tochtermann was born in Pforzheim. From 1953–1960, he studied chemistry at the Universities of Münster and Heidelberg, and completed his doctoral dissertation under the direction of the Nobel laureate Georg Wittig. Following a postdoctoral period as assistant to his academic teacher, he started his own research on seven-membered ring systems in 1962. Hermann Adolf Maurer (born April 26, 1941) is an Austrian computer scientist, serving as Professor of Computer Science at the Graz University of Technology. He has supervised over 40 dissertations, written more than 20 books and over 600 scientific articles, and started or been involved with a number of companies. Life Maurer was born in Vienna, Austria.
