This is a list of visual novel engines. Artemis Artemis, also known as Artemis Engine, is a cross-platform, but closed-source visual novel engine that can work on Windows, IOS, Android, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Its scripting uses Lua scripts and has a file structure similar to KiriKiri. Digital Novel Markup Language Digital Novel Markup Language (DNML) is one of the first scripting language game engines for creating visual novels, also known as interactive fiction games. DNML was developed using C++ by a Japanese programmer known by their Internet name, Karin. The initial release was in 1998. , officially abbreviated as Nscr, also known under its Working title, production title Scripter4, is a game engine developed by Naoki Takahashi between 1999 and 2018 functioning with its own script language which facilitates the creation of both Visual Novel, visual and sound novels. The Software development kit, SDK is only available for Windows. From version 2.82, NScripter supports both Japanese writing system, Japanese characters - these are two bytes long - and any single-byte character; before that, it only supported Japanese language, Japanese characters. Tsukihime
is a Japanese adult visual novel game created by Type-Moon, who first released it at the Winter Comiket in December 2000. In 2003, it was adapted into both an anime television series, ''Lunar Legend Tsukihime'', animated by J.C.Staff, and a manga series, which was serialized between 2003 and 2010 in MediaWorks manga magazine ''Dengeki Daioh'', with ten volumes released. Several other related media have also been released, including the bonus disc ''Tsukihime Plus-Disc'', a fan disc ''Kagetsu Tohya'', and the fighting game series ''Melty Blood''. is a 2005 PC visual novel video game developed by Type-Moon, and the sequel to ''Fate/stay night''. The word "ataraxia" in the title is a Greek term for "tranquility", giving the title the combined meaning of "empty (or false) tranquility". The game also was ported to PlayStation Vita, adding full-voice acting, among other enhancements. This version was released in Japan on November 27, 2014.
