Anselm Kiefer
Anselm Kiefer (born 8 March 1945) is a German painter and sculptor. He studied with Peter Dreher and Horst Antes at the end of the 1960s. His works incorporate materials such as straw, ash, clay, lead, and shellac. The poems of Paul Celan have played a role in developing Kiefer's themes of German history and the horrors of the Holocaust, as have the spiritual concepts of Kabbalah. In his entire body of work, Kiefer argues with the past and addresses taboo and controversial issues from recent history. Themes from Nazi rule are particularly reflected in his work; for instance, the painting ''Margarethe'' (oil and straw on canvas) was inspired by Celan's well-known poem "Todesfuge" ("Death Fugue"). His works are characterised by an unflinching willingness to confront his culture's dark past, and unrealised potential, in works that are often done on a large, confrontational scale well suited to the subjects. Kiefer Isaac Crisologo Ravena (; born October 27, 1993) is a Filipino professional basketball player for Shiga Lakes of the Japanese B.League. Ravena played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles of the UAAP during his college days. He plays the point guard position. The son of former PBA player Bong Ravena, Ravena enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at the Ateneo de Manila High School in Loyola Heights, Quezon City where he was recognized as one of the top high school basketball players in the Philippines. Adolph Kiefer
Adolph Gustav Kiefer (June 27, 1918 – May 5, 2017) was an American competition swimmer, Olympic competitor, the last surviving gold medalist of the 1936 Summer Olympics and former world record-holder. He was the first man in the world to swim the 100-yard backstroke in under one minute. Kiefer was also an inventor and innovator of new products related to aquatics competition. Early life and education Kiefer was born as a son of German immigrants in Chicago, Illinois, and there attended Roosevelt High School (1936). He then attended the University of Texas at Austin (1939), and Columbia College, Columbia University (1940). He reached the semifinals of the 2006 Australian Open and won a silver medal in men's doubles with partner Rainer Schüttler at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Kiefer, Oklahoma
Kiefer is a town in Creek County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,685 at the 2010 census, an increase of 64.2 percent over the figure of 1,026 recorded in 2000. History Kiefer was originally known as "Praper" when a post office was first established in 1901. The St. Louis, Oklahoma and Southern Railway (later the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway) constructed a line south from Sapulpa through Praper between 1900 and 1901. The route is today operated by BNSF. Praper became an oil boom town by 1906, when it grew into a major shipping point for crude from the Glenn Pool field. The post office was renamed "Kiefer" on December 12, 1906. According to the ''Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture'', the name honored at least one of three different people named Kiefer who lived in the area. Jack Carl Kiefer (January 25, 1924 – August 10, 1981) was an American mathematical statistics, statistician at Cornell University (1952 to 1979) and the University of California, Berkeley (1979 to 1981). His research interests included the optimal design of experiments, which was his major research area, as well as a wide variety of topics in mathematical statistics. Kiefer is a Grammy Award-winning American pianist and producer based in Los Angeles, California. Biography Born in 1992 in San Diego, Kiefer started playing piano around age six, and was first introduced to jazz by his father. Growing up, he took classical and jazz lessons, and by his teens was an adept soloist and began experimenting with producing his own computer-based hip-hop and electronic beats. After high school, he moved to Los Angeles and enrolled in UCLA’s Jazz Studies program, where he was mentored by renowned jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell, flautist James Newton and pianist Tamir Hendelman. Jack Kiefer (golfer)
Leo C. "Jack" Kiefer (January 1, 1940 – September 24, 1999) was an American professional golfer who won two Senior PGA Tour events in the 1990s. Kiefer was born in Columbia, Pennsylvania. He attended Millersville State College and turned professional in 1967. Kiefer spent his regular career years working as a club and teaching pro. He played in a small number of PGA Tour events. His best finish in a major championship — the only major he played — was a T-60 at the 1976 PGA Championship. Kiefer joined the Senior PGA Tour (now known as the Champions Tour) in 1990. Through Monday qualifying and sponsor's exemptions, Kiefer played in enough events in 1992 to finish 32nd on the money list earning him a full-time spot on the Tour in 1993. George Kiefer (born c. 1971) is the head men's soccer coach at North Carolina State University, where he has served since 2017. He was the 2005 NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year, and led the South Florida Bulls from 2002 until 2016. He posted a 162-84-47 record as head coach there and won five conference championships. Professor Friedrich Kiefer (9 September 1897 – 18 April 1985) was a German zoologist, specialising in freshwater copepods. For over 60 years, he was "the preeminent morphological taxonomist of continental free-living copepods". Kiefer was born in Karlsruhe on September 6, 1897.
