Kevin Ara
Kevin Ara (born February 8, 1984) is an American soccer player, who played defensive midfielder for D.C. United. Ara played his college soccer at Harvard University, where he had a rather distinguished career. While at Harvard, he was named first team All-Ivy, first team All-New England and an NCAA All-American. Ara was placed on the short list of finalists for the prestigious Herman Trophy during his senior season. After graduating from Harvard, Ara was selected 24th overall in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. Ara managed to make an impact and earned playing time during his 2004 rookie season while winning a championship with D.C. United. Upland is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States on the border with neighboring Los Angeles County. The municipality is located at an elevation of 1,242 feet (379 m). The USL Championship (USLC) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. 2004 MLS Expansion Draft
The 2004 MLS Expansion Draft was held on November 19, 2004 and consisted of 10 rounds. The two new teams, Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake, drafted players from the other 10 Major League Soccer teams. Existing MLS teams were allowed to protect 12 players on their senior roster, and players on the developmental roster were exempt from the draft. Teams were allowed to leave no more than one Senior International player unprotected. After each player was selected, his team was allowed to remove one exposed player from their list. Real Salt Lake, often shortened to RSL, is an American professional soccer franchise based in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The club competes as a member club of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the Western Conference. RSL began play in 2005 as an expansion team of the league. The club was founded in 2004 when the club's first owner and founder was awarded an expansion berth in Major League Soccer.
