Ken Skates
Kenneth Christian Skates (born 2 April 1976) is a Welsh Labour politician who has served as Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales since March 2024. Skates has represented the constituency of Clwyd South in the Senedd since the election of 2011. He is an alumnus of the University of Cambridge, and worked as a journalist prior to becoming a politician. In September 2014 he became the deputy minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport. From May 2016 to December 2018 he was the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills, and was the Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales until he stood down on 13 May 2021. He held Economy, Transport and North Wales position again between July and September 2024 when he assumed the economy portfolio. The Cabinet Secretary for North Wales () is a member of the cabinet in the Welsh Government. The current officeholder is Ken Skates since March 2024. The establishment of a role focusing on North Wales was first raised in 2009, but was established by Mark Drakeford in 2018. It was established over concerns of how devolution was centred on South Wales. A Plaid Cymru MS disputed the role's existence, while some argue for a directly elected mayor instead. A member of the Senedd (MS; plural: ''MSs''; ; , plural: ) is a representative elected to the Senedd (Welsh Parliament; ). Media Wales Ltd. is a publishing company based in Cardiff, Wales. As of 2009 it was owned by Reach plc (formerly known as the Trinity Mirror Group). The A-level (Advanced Level) is a subject-based qualification conferred as part of the General Certificate of Education, as well as a school leaving qualification offered by the educational bodies in the United Kingdom and the educational authorities of British Crown dependencies to students completing secondary or pre-university education. Mold, Flintshire
Mold ( ) is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, on the River Alyn. It is the historic county town and was the administrative seat of Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 2025, as it was of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996. According to the 2011 UK census, it had a population of 10,058. A 2019 estimate puts it at 10,123. Alun School
Alun School is a secondary school located in the community of Mold, Flintshire, Wales. It was formed in 1970 as a result of the merger of the Alun Grammar School and the Daniel Owen Secondary Modern School. Some of the school's present buildings, such as the Daniel Owen Building, date from 1938. The remainder were opened on the formation of the current comprehensive or built in the years since. In 1989, 1432 students attended the school; by 2009 the number was 1762, with over 550 students in the sixth form and over 120 teachers. The main school remains over-subscribed and the Sixth Form is one of the biggest in Wales.
