"Keep Away" is a song by American rock band Godsmack. It was released as the second single from the band's album Godsmack (album), ''Godsmack''. An acoustic version was included on ''The Other Side (Godsmack album), The Other Side''. A live version is included on the album from ''Woodstock 1999 (album), Woodstock 1999''. The song brought early attention to the band: "With driving guitars, a sinister sounding vocal and aggressive chorus, the song connected with listeners and the Godsmack ascension was starting to take place. The song would impact radio in June 1999 and followed a more direct trajectory up the charts". The song's writer, band member Sully Erna, described the song as being "about hope -- hope to get the bitch out of my life". Godsmack is an American Rock music, rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The band is currently composed of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Sully Erna and bassist Robbie Merrill. The album's recording was initially paid for by the band, at a cost of $2,600, at New Alliance Studios in Boston, and released through the band's own record label E. K. Salvatore Paul Erna Jr. (born February 7, 1968) is an American singer, musician, and songwriter, best known as the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for rock band Godsmack. He is also a harmonica player, drummer, and percussionist, performing these on albums and at live shows. He was ranked 47th in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists by ''Hit Parader''. Early life Sully Erna was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He began playing drums at the age of three. "Whatever" is the first single by the American rock band Godsmack. Featured on the band's self-titled album, "Whatever" is one of Godsmack's most famous songs. "Voodoo" is a song by American rock band Godsmack. It was released as a promotional single from their self-titled album. The song was written by the band's vocalist Sully Erna and bassist Robbie Merrill. "Voodoo" is the final track listed on the album. After roughly two minutes of silence, a hidden track (entitled "Witch Hunt") closes the album. Although "Voodoo" itself is 4:39 in length, the actual length (including the aforementioned silence and the hidden track "Witch Hunt") is 9:03. "Voodoo" has since spawned a sequel, in the form of "Voodoo Too", from the band's fourth studio album, '' IV'' (2006). The set features one song from each of 32 performing artists.
