Kawu Peto Dukku
Kawu Peto Dukku (14 January 1958 – 2 April 2010) was elected Senator for the Gombe North constituency of Gombe State, Nigeria, taking office on 29 May 2007. He was a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Early life and education Dukku was born on 14 January 1958 and gained a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration. Career and politics He began his working career as a teacher. Later he joined the Goal Star Oil Company in Maiduguri. He was elected to the Gombe State House of Assembly in 1999 and was reelected in 2003, when he was made speaker. After being elected to the Senate in 2007, Dukku was appointed deputy Chairman of the Senate committee on States and local governments. He was also appointed a member of the Senate Committees on Aviation and Sports. Gombe State
Gombe State ( ff, Leyddi Gommbe 𞤤𞤫𞤴𞤣𞤭 𞤺𞤮𞤥𞥆𞤦𞤫) is a state in northeastern Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by the state of Borno and Yobe, to the south by Taraba State, to the southeast by Adamawa State, and to the west by Bauchi State. Sa'idu Ahmed Alkali (born 12 February 1969) is a Nigerian politician who was elected Senator for the Gombe North constituency of Gombe State, Nigeria in August 2010 after the death of the incumbent senator Kawu Peto Dukku. He was reelected in the April 2011 national elections, running on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. Sa'idu Ahmed Alkali was born on 12 February 1969. He holds the honorary title of Sarkin Gabas Dukku. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics, and became a public servant. Alhaji Sa'idu Ahmed Alkali was formerly commissioner of information in the administration of Governor Danjuma Goje. After the death of Kawu Peto Dukku in April 2010, he emerged as the consensus candidate for the PDP primarily because he originated from the Dukku Local Government Area. The Gombe State House of Assembly is the legislative arm of the government of Gombe State of Nigeria. It is a unicameral legislature with 24 members elected from the 11 local government areas of the state delineated into 24 state constituencies.
