Katja Koukkula
Katja Koukkula is a Finnish dancer and dance teacher, who has won several Finnish championships with her dance partner Jussi Väänänen. On August 25, 2007, they were elected to represent Finland in the first Eurovision Dance Contest, which took place on September 1, 2007 in London. They won the competition with 132 points, performing the Rumba and Paso Doble. The couple have won seven national titles as amateurs and came 4th in the European Championships. Jussi Väänänen is a competitive dancer who won the Eurovision Dance Contest 2007 with his partner Katja Koukkula. Jussi and Katja started their professional career in 2000 and they are Finnish champions in competitive dance. They got 132 points in Eurovision Dance Contest by dancing the Rumba and Paso Doble. Eurovision Dance Contest
The Eurovision Dance Contest was an international ballroom dancing competition that was held for the first time in the United Kingdom on Saturday 1 September 2007. The contest was similar in format to the long-running Eurovision Song Contest and was organized by both the Eurovision association and the International DanceSport Federation (IDSF). The IDSF credits the existence of the contest to Richard Bunn of rbi network, Geneva, former EBU controller of sport, who convinced the EBU to create the programme. Rhumba
Rhumba, also known as ballroom rumba, is a genre of ballroom music and ballroom dance, dance that appeared in the East Coast of the United States during the 1930s. It combined American big band music with Afro-Cuban rhythms, primarily the son cubano, but also conga (music), conga and Cuban rumba, rumba. Although taking its name from the latter, ballroom rumba differs completely from Cuban rumba in both its music and its dance. Paso Doble
Pasodoble (Spanish: ''double step'') is a fast-paced Spanish military march used by infantry troops. Its speed allowed troops to give 120 steps per minute (double the average of a regular unit, hence its name). This military march gave rise recently to a modern Spanish dance, a musical genre including both voice and instruments, and a genre of instrumental music often played during bullfight. Both the dance and the non martial compositions are also called pasodoble. Structure All pasodobles have binary rhythm. Its musical structure consists of an introduction based on the dominant chord of the piece, followed by a first fragment based on the main tone and a second part, called "the trío", based on the sub-dominant note, based yet again on the dominant chord. Suomenlinna (; until 1918 Viapori, ), or Sveaborg (), is an inhabited sea fortress the Suomenlinna district is on eight islands of which six have been fortified; it is about 4 km southeast of the city center of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Jone Nikula
Antti Joonas "Jone" Nikula (born 30 March 1970) is Finnish television and radio personality and a jack-of-all-trades in the music industry. He became well known as a judge in the TV show Idols. Before his TV popularity, Nikula has – among other things – been a host on the Finnish radio station Radio City, and marketing manager of EMI Music Finland. Since 2007, Nikula and Kotiteollisuus frontman Jouni Hynynen have hosted Äijät, a TV show about the professions and (in the second season in 2008) hobbies of "real men".
