Kate Tyndall
Kate Tyndall (born 12 November 1983) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Western Bulldogs in the AFL Women's competition. Tyndal was drafted by the Western Bulldogs with their 15th selection and 117th overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft. She made her debut in the thirty-two point win against at VU Whitten Oval in the opening round of the 2017 season. She played every match in her debut season to finish with seven games. She was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season. Victorian Women's Football League
The Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL) was the oldest and largest Australian rules football league for women in the world, consisting of 47 clubs from Victoria, Australia, across seven divisions and a total of over 1,000 players. The VWFL complied with the laws of Australian football. The official ball, a Sherrin, used by the VWFL, was a custom-made size 4.5 ball. History The Victorian Women's Football League was formed in 1981 with four teams competing at open level. In 1995, Sal Rees caused controversy when she nominated for the 1995 AFL Draft: the nomination was subsequently voided, with the AFL amending its Draft rules to prevent any repeat of this incident. Abbotsford ( wyi, Carran-carramulk) is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Yarra local government area. Western Bulldogs (AFLW) Players
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, and based in West Footscray in the old City of Footscray west of Melbourne, the club won nine premierships in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) before gaining admission to the Victorian Football League (which became the AFL in 1990) in 1925. Aasta O'Connor
Aasta O'Connor (born 21 June 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played as a ruck for and for in the AFL Women's competition. She is also a member of the Darebin Falcons' VFL Women's team. Early life O'Connor was born in Brisbane and raised on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. She attended Immanuel Lutheran College throughout her upbringing and began playing football for the Northshore Jets under 10s mixed team in the local Sunshine Coast junior league. At the age of 18, O'Connor moved to Brisbane and began playing top level QAFLW football for the Logan Cobras. Her stint with Logan included four premierships, five Queensland state representative appearances and three All-Australian honours. In 2010, she decided to relocate to Victoria and began playing for the Darebin Falcons in the VFLW. 2016 AFL Women's Draft
The 2016 AFL Women's draft consisted of the various periods when the eight clubs in the AFL Women's competition recruited players prior to the competition's inaugural season in 2017. Draftees and signings over the period were required to have a minimum age qualification of 18. Prior to the draft itself each club was allowed to sign two marquee players from any state across the country at an increased salary. In addition, they were permitted to sign a number of priority players with existing connections to the club, and up to two rookie players who had not played competitive Australian rules football within the previous three years.
