Kalen Porter
Richard Kalan Porter (born November 11, 1985) is a Canadian singer and songwriter from Medicine Hat, Alberta, and the winner of the reality television series ''Canadian Idol'' in 2004. He started to sing at an early age and is classically trained, playing several instruments, most notably, the violin and viola. He writes and arranges violin solos for many of his songs. Porter's first single " Awake in a Dream" is the best selling debut single for a Canadian artist to date and has been certified 8× Platinum by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. He is also the highest selling solo Canadian Idol singer. In 2013, he was a graduate student in business at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. The fifth season of ''Canadian Idol'' is the fifth installation of the ''Idol'' series in Canada. It was again hosted by Ben Mulroney, with Farley Flex, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan and Zack Werner all returning as judges. The show premiered on June 5, 2007, with a 90-minute episode. ''Wake Up Living'' is the second album by Canadian singer Kalan Porter, the 2004 winner of ''Canadian Idol''. The album was produced and mixed by Brian Malouf. It was released August 28, 2007 on Sony BMG. Background In contrast to his first album, '' 219 Days'', he describes this second effort as being more reflective of what he would like to do musically, and he co-wrote most of this album's songs. 2006 Juno Awards
The Juno Awards of 2006 were held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on the weekend of 31 March to 2 April 2006. These ceremonies honour music industry achievements in Canada during the previous year. The primary ceremonies were hosted by Pamela Anderson at the Halifax Metro Centre on 2 April and televised on CTV. Buck 65 was the ceremony's introduction and preview announcer. Music artists Bedouin Soundclash, Broken Social Scene, Divine Brown, Hedley, Massari and Nickelback performed songs at these ceremonies.
