Emporia State University
Emporia State University (Emporia State or ESU) is a public university in Emporia, Kansas, United States. Established in March 1863 as the Kansas State Normal School, Emporia State is the third-oldest public university in the state of Kansas. Emporia State is one of six public universities governed by the Kansas Board of Regents. The university offers degrees in more than 80 courses of study through four colleges and schools: the School of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Library and Information Management, and The Teachers College. KSTC (AM)
KSTC (1230 AM, "Fox Sports 1230 AM KSTC") is a radio station broadcasting a sports format. Licensed to the city of Sterling, Colorado, it serves the northeastern Colorado area. It first began broadcasting in 1938 under the call sign KGEK. The station is currently owned by Wayne Johnson, through licensee Media Logic LLC. History The radio station was founded in 1938 by Harry Behler and was first licensed as KGEK in Yuma, Colorado, about 60 miles southeast of Sterling. In the 1950s it was moved to Sterling. For the next 30 years the station occupied an adobe building and, later, double-wide mobile home at the east edge of Sterling. The station went through a series of ownership transfers during that time, In 1974 an FM station was added (104.5 MHz), with call letters KYOT ("Country Coyote") and in the late 1970s the stations' call letters were changed to KSTC and KNNG-FM. KSTC-TV (channel 5.2) is an independent television station licensed to Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, serving the Twin Cities area. Owned by Hubbard Broadcasting, it is sister to Saint Paul–licensed ABC affiliate and company flagship KSTP-TV (channel 5), and radio stations KSTP (1500 AM), KSTP-FM (94.5), and KTMY (107.1 FM). The five outlets share studios on University Avenue, on the Saint Paul–Minneapolis border; KSTC-TV's transmitter is located at Telefarm Towers in Shoreview. The station is branded as 45TV in reference to its former analog, digital, and virtual channel number; it is still carried on channel 45 on some cable systems in outlying areas of the market, as well as on DirecTV and Dish Network. KSTC-TV also serves the Mankato market (via K14KE-D in nearby St. James through the local municipal-operated Cooperative TV TVnetwork of translators), as that area does not have an independent station of its own.
