KK Metalac Valjevo
Košarkaški klub Metalac ( sr-cyr, Кошаркашки клуб Металац), commonly referred to as KK Metalac, is a men's professional basketball club based in Valjevo, Serbia. They are currently competing in the Basketball League of Serbia. History Metalac was established on 24 March 1948 as KK Budućnost Valjevo. Six days later, the club played its first official game in Čačak against Borac and lost 69:19. In a relatively short period of time, they managed to qualify for a higher level of competition, entering the South Group of a then minor Serbian League under the new name Metalac in 1954. Due to financial problems in 1960, the club had to leave all competitions and restart from scratch again a year after. In 1973 Metalac managed to qualify for the First Yugoslav Federal League by beating Mladost Zemun in the last round of the competition, gaining a decisive advantage over Vojvodina Novi Sad. Basketball League Of Serbia
The Basketball League of Serbia ( sr, Кошаркашка лига Србије, Košarkaška liga Srbije; abbr. КЛС or KLS), is a top-tier men's professional basketball league in Serbia. Founded in 2006, it is run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS). Rules Competition format The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Serbia, consists of two stages: the First League which has 16 teams and the SuperLeague which has 8 teams. Since the 2017–18 season, the top 8 teams in First League are promoted to Super League with five Serbian teams from the ABA League. Two lowest-placed teams, positioned 15th and 16th in the First League, are relegated to a lower-tier league – Second Basketball League of Serbia. Adriatic Basketball Association – ABA League, G.P., commonly referred to as the ABA League JTD, is a Croatian company based in Zagreb. It is the general partnership for organizing sports competitions. The company has been running the Adriatic League since the 2015–16 season. Vladimir Đokić ( sr-cyr, Владимир Ђокић; born April 25, 1971) is a Serbian professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach for Vršac of the Basketball League of Serbia. Playing career A point guard, Đokić played 18 seasons in Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Hungary, Macedonia, and Serbia, between from 1990 and 2008. During his playing days, he played for Metalac, Spartak, Partizan, Crvena zvezda, Balkan Steel, Ergonom, EKF Eger, and Nitra. He retired as a player with Metalac in 2008. Dragan "Gagi" Nikolić ( sr-cyr, Драган "Гаги" Николић; born February 20, 1972) is a Serbian professional basketball coach. Boško Đokić
Boško Đokić ( sr-cyr, Бошко Ђокић; 26 October 1953 – 26 January 2019) was a Serbian professional basketball coach and journalist. Coaching career Đokić coached teams in Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Russia. Between August and November 2005, Đokić coached Avala Ada. Personal life Đokić was a columnist for Serbian daily newspaper Danas after 2011. As a journalist, he worked for Studio B, Večernje novosti, Sport, Koš and the Trener magazine. Đokić and his wife Mirjana had a daughter, Milena. Đokić died on 26 January 2019 in Belgrade, Serbia. Velimir Gašić ( sr-cyr, Велимир Гашић; born 10 May 1964) is a Serbian professional basketball coach for Sloboda Užice of the Basketball League of Serbia. Early life Gašić was born in Aleksandrovac, SR Serbia, in 1964, but only a year later he moved to Rijeka, where his father get a job. Mihailo Poček ( sr-cyr, Михаило Почек; born May 18, 1960), sometimes also ''Mihajlo'', is a Serbian basketball coach and former player. Playing career Poček played for his hometown team Metalac.
