History The station originally signed on the air in January 1989 as KKVI, operating as a satellite station of Pocatello American Broadcasting Company, ABC affiliate KPVI; it also carried Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox as a secondary affiliation during the late evening hours. This arrangement ended when KPVI ended its ABC affiliation to become an NBC affiliate in 1996. KPVI
KPVI-DT (channel 6) is a television station licensed to Pocatello, Idaho, United States, serving as the NBC affiliate for the Idaho Falls–Pocatello media market, market. Owned by Imagicomm Communications, the station maintains studios on East Sherman Street in downtown Pocatello. Its transmitter is situated on a mountain top about east-northeast of the Pocatello city limits; this location was chosen because of possible interference from KIVI-TV in Boise, which also broadcast its analog signal on channel 6. At one time, KPVI and KIVI were sister stations (hence the Roman numerals) with the same affiliation (American Broadcasting Company, ABC, until 1996). KPVI broadcast its analog signal at 100 kW. Intermountain West Communications Company (formerly Sunbelt Communications Company) was an American telecommunications company, formerly owned by James E. Rogers (1938–2014), that remains as the licensee company for a number of local television stations in the United States, operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group and subsidiary companies Howard Stirk Holdings and Cunningham Broadcasting. KTVB (channel 7) is a television station in Boise, Idaho, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Tegna Inc. The station's studios are located on West Fairview Avenue (off I-184) in Boise, and its transmitter is located on Deer Point in unincorporated Boise County. It is rebroadcast by KTFT-LD (channel 7) in Twin Falls, Idaho, Twin Falls, which airs KTVB programming with local advertising for the Magic Valley area from its transmitter on Flat Top Butte near Jerome, Idaho, and maintains a local sales office in Twin Falls.
