KAMY (FM)
Klima Action Malaysia (KAMY) is a Malaysian climate activist group that was started by a group of youths that is dedicated to empowering women, youth and marginalised communities. They were founded in 2019 and are one of the only grassroots climate activist groups in Malaysia. Aims The grassroots movement demands climate policies based on peace, equity and democracy urging politicians to take a stand on climate action. They have been actively involved in initiatives which includes multi-language advocacy, climate protests, capacity building workshops and community awareness since April 2019 in an effort to empower communities and reach a larger demographic. Activities Klima Action Malaysia organised the MY Climate Strike on 21 September 2019 as part of the Global Climate Strike that was held worldwide in the same month for a week. A grassroots movement is one that uses the people in a given district, region or community as the basis for a political or continent movement. Global Climate Strike Of 20 September 2019
The September 2019 climate strikes, also known as the Global Week for Future, were a series of international strikes and protests to demand action be taken to address climate change, which took place from 20 to 27 September 2019. The strikes' key dates were 20 September, which was three days before the United Nations Climate Summit, and 27 September. The protests took place across 4,500 locations in 150 countries. The event stemmed from the Fridays for Future school strike for climate movement, inspired by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning network, founded in Canada in 1971 by a group of Environmental movement, environmental activists. A die-in, sometimes known as a lie-in, is a form of protest in which participants simulate being dead. Die-ins are actions that have been used by a variety of protest groups on topics such as animal rights, anti-war, against traffic violence, human rights, AIDS, gun control, racism, abortion, and environmental issues. Often, protestors occupy an area for a short time instead of being forced to leave by the police. In the simplest form of a die-in, protesters simply lie down on the ground and pretend to be dead, sometimes covering themselves with signs or banners. Permaculture
Permaculture is an approach to land management and settlement design that adopts arrangements observed in flourishing natural ecosystems. It includes a set of design principles derived using Systems theory, whole-systems thinking. It applies these principles in fields such as regenerative agriculture, town planning, rewilding (conservation biology), rewilding, and community resilience.
