Junction is an unincorporated community in western Auglaize Township, Paulding County, Ohio, United States. It lies along the concurrent State Routes 111 and 637. The Auglaize River flows along the eastern edge of the community. It is located midway between the village of Paulding, the county seat of Paulding County, and the city of Defiance, the county seat of Defiance County. Ohio State Route 111
State Route 111 (SR 111) is a state route that runs between the Indiana state line and Defiance in the US state of Ohio. Most of the route is a rural two-lane highway and passes through both farmland and residential properties. For some of its path, SR 111 runs generally parallel to the north of the Auglaize River. The highway was first signed in 1923 on much the same alignment as today. A few realignments of the route have happened; the first in 1927 removed a section of highway west of SR 49. This section was later extended due west of SR 49 to the Indiana state line. Another realignment happened in 1983 with the route heading north out of Paulding concurrent with U.S. Route 127 (US 127). Miami And Erie Canal
The Miami and Erie Canal was a canal that ran from Cincinnati to Toledo, Ohio, creating a water route between the Ohio River and Lake Erie. Construction on the canal began in 1825 and was completed in 1845 at a cost to the state government of $8,062,680.07. At its peak, it included 19 aqueducts, three guard locks, 103 canal locks, multiple feeder canals, and a few man-made water reservoirs. The canal climbed above Lake Erie and above the Ohio River to reach a topographical peak called the Loramie Summit, which extended between New Bremen, Ohio to lock 1-S in Lockington, north of Piqua, Ohio. Paulding is a village in and the county seat of Paulding County, Ohio, United States. It is located predominantly in Paulding Township about 64 miles southwest of Toledo. The population was 3,605 at the 2010 census. History Paulding was a planned community, founded in 1848 at the center of the county, and named after the county by speculators who expected to profit by moving the county seat.
